“Excellent choice to work the Markets!”
Reviewed January 25, 2012

Great value if you work the markets.
Walking distance from America's Market and all indoors, out of whatever weather is outside.
Breakfast included, good restaurants on site.
Why go out for anything?

We stayed at the Hilton downtown for the SEC championship game in December 2010. We liked the hotel and it was fairly convenient; however, I always prefer the Embassy Suites and the Hilton Garden Inn which are closer to the Georgia Dome, Aquarium and World of Coke. Those hotels were booked so we stayed at the Hilton. I was pleased and would stay there again.

This is a well-located downtown four-star hotel that deserves every star. Indoor access to MARTA, 24 hour restaurant, unbelievably well-equipped fitness center, and super clean, well-equipped rooms. Can't go wrong here.

Friendly staff, excellent service, comfortable bed, delicious food, etc. Especially liked our waiter, Fred in Southern Elements restaurant, and Quentin who helped us with our boarding passes. People were there to help and enjoyed their work at this hotel. Will be back!

I have gone back and forth between giving this hotel an "average" rating and a "very good" rating for a few reasons. The accommodations were really lovely, the bed very comfy, everything was super clean, and the view was out of this world! But, even for a heavy sleeper like me, I have to say, the walls were so thin that I had a heck of a time falling asleep because I could hear the guests' every move in the neighboring room. That was frustrating but wouldn't prevent me from staying here again.

Second, while the bathroom was gorrrgeous, there were issues in the morning with there not being enough hot water. It was spotty-- would be nice and hot for a few minutes and then would get just "warm" (which on a freezing cold morning in Atlanta-- it was in the 20's-- made the shower experience not great). It wasn't unbearable, it just wasn't great.

That brings me to another point-- the views from the windows were absolutely magnificent but the room had trouble staying warm because of the draftiness of the floor to ceiling windows. Maybe this wouldn't be an issue in the spring or summer, but in the winter, yikes... you want it to be warm.

So, with all of these frustrations, why am I still giving this hotel a "Very Good" rating. I guess it is because I would say, overall, that it really is a very good hotel with gorgeous, comfortable, and clean accommodations. The other reason is that the location is outstanding (right in the heart of downtown Atlanta and in close walking distance to the Aquarium, World of Coke, great restaurants, etc. I was there for work at the GA Dept of Ed and was only a four minute car ride from the office I was visiting. Perfect location. And, finally, the rate couldn't be beat. It was a great deal and, because of the fantastic rate, I was able to upgrade to the Executive Floor for only $40 more, giving me full access to the complimentary food and drinks in the evening and the free breakfast in the morning. It was worth it just for that! They had chicken fingers, mini Cuban sandwich/springrolls, cookies, cheese and crackers, fruit, etc. for dinner and I was so stuffed that I didn't need to go out for dinner! Breakfast was great too-- lots of bagels, muffins, breads, fruits, grits, oatmeal, etc. Again, it was a "very good" stay (despite some of the issues) just for that, so I HIGHLY recommend the Executive Floor experience for the extra money. If I had just stayed in the standard room and didn't get the perks of the Exec Floor food and drinks, I think I would have had to say it was just an average, nice stay. The Exec Floor and the high quality of the clean, comfy rooms helped override the hot water issues, drafty/chilly room, and noisiness from the thin walls. Again, these issues won't prevent me from staying here again but will have me think twice before booking-- especially in the winter time.

Overall, the great deal for the Exec Floor experience made it a very good stay. :-)

Room Tip: Pay extra for an Executive Room so that you have access to the free food, snacks, beverages, and bre...

A comfortable stay for work and play! Excellent staff, rooms clean and overall very accommodating, When I arrived at my room, it smelled of cigarette smoke masked by spray so when we asked, we were moved with no problem. Because we left the "Do Not Disturb" sign on by mistake, the room was passed for cleaning at the normal time. They came and cleaned the room at 6 PM! Who would have thought! The highlight of the stay was the tastiest treat when you check in! The red velvet cake balls were out of this world! What a wonderful "extra touch"! I understand they normally make chocolate cake balls, covered with chocolate. I'm sure they'd be scrumptious as well. Very nice bar, with great nightlife and deli near the lobby. I'd definitely plan another stay when in Atlanta at the Hilton!
