“Went to the Canton location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2012

Wife and I returned to the Goin' Coastal in Canton for lunch. It had just expanded - nearly doubled in size. Food was great. Good wine and beer selection. Our lunch was moderately priced. Have been there for dinner and it's pretty expensive but well worth it for a special occasion.

“Great shrimp risotto”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2012

We came on a Sunday night for the snow crab leg special. The portion was a nice size but they were just average. They were actually a little dry on the smaller portion of the leg. The shrimp risotto was excellent. It have very large fresh shrimp & the flavor was the best. Be sure to try the corn bread. It is excellent. The waitress must be new because she was just okay. This is a great neighborhood restaurant.

“Bring your wallet”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2012

This place is not a jaw dropper like Ruth's Chris or Morton's, but it is pricey. I went on the recommendation of the innkeeper while I was in ATL on business. They had just changed the menu that night, and the waiter was eager to tell me about all the new high priced specials. I was not that hungry, so I had the salmon salad. It was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. The waiter, as often happens, was pretty put off that I was eating light which would lead to a light tip. He was coughing some too, which is never a good sign from wait staff at any restaurant, especially a more upscale one. When I left, he was smoking outside and talking to someone in a car on the street. Another bad sign. Anyway, they had some stuff about sustainable fish harvest, overfishing, blah, blah, which is a way to justify the high prices. It was OK, but nothing to go out of your way to visit.

“The food was just not that great”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2012

I went to the location in Virginia Highlands for dinner service. In my party, we tried the low country platter, lobster mac and cheese, jalapeno corn bread pudding, and costal bowl. The portion of the Low country platter was very little; shrimp didn't taste fresh, and the sausage was nothing special. The person who ordered the item was still hungry after finishing the platter. My lobster mac and cheese was very bland; I usually prefer my seafood under-seasoned because I think i can taste the seafoody flavor better; but this dish was lacking more than just salt. The jalapeno corn bread budding tasted good, but it was too dry; if it was baked in a dish that was slightly deeper, I think it would have been a lot more enjoyable. The only dish that we enjoyed thoroughly was the coastal bowl; the scallops were good sized, and it was a special dish that you can't really get any where else. Not the best seafood restaurant.
