Description: Opening just in time for Oktoberfest 2010, Der Biergarten gives Atlanta residents and visitors a true taste of German culture. Located Downtown within the Luckie Marietta District, Der Biergarten fills a citywide void of beer gardens and authentic German fare while providing world-class service in a festive, traditional atmosphere. Co-owner Wolfgang Hartert, a local resident and native of Germany, provided much of the inspiration for Der Biergarten. As he says, “Atlanta needs a restaurant like Der Biergarten. The significant German population and business community in Atlanta is begging for an authentic dining experience. I know that Der Biergarten will provide Europeans, just like me, a place to share the rich heritage of Germany with American friends.” Der Biergarten is made up of an elegant white tablecloth dining room, an alley with Fussball and table shuffleboard, and, of course, the indoor/outdoor beer garden. With traditional family style seating -a la Munich- and multiple flat-screen TVs, the beer garden is the best place for watching European or American football! Enjoy our authentic German cuisine while being surrounded by Bavarian décor, such as the hand-painted trompe l'oeil ("illusionistic") murals by Alexi Torres Alonso and a German-manufactured model-railroad that circles the restaurant.

We wound up going here twice because the first time was so good. The only disappointment was that they were out of Spaten Optimeter.

“Small Private Gathering”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

I went for a volunteers thank you event and was served tapas-like food and a free beer or wine. The place has an upscale tavern-like feel with German influence. The food was good but it's hard to mess up mac & cheese, cheeseburger sliders, pita and hummus dip, grilled mushroom/zucchini/red peppers, and cookies.

I plan on returning to take in the rest of the menu. Also they do validate parking up to 2 hours so you can park in the lot across the street for easy access.

“My Favorite Place in ATL”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

I have been here before when I came to the city for a baseball game. This has the best atmosphere and flair,is a place to come with friends and just have a blast. I recommend there pretzels. Also, make sure you leave time to take pictures with the cut outs of a beer wench and last but not least check out the train that runs along the celing in the dining room

Great service and great beer. Wish the street outside was a little safer to cross after a few beers :)

“Great food and beer choices”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

Excellent place to relax and have some excellent German food. Great server very knowledgeable about food and beers. Ask for small portions of beer to see if you like then order the 1 liter and enjoy. The food was excellent and very relaxing place and very friendly. Do not miss while downtown.
