Description: Opening just in time for Oktoberfest 2010, Der Biergarten gives Atlanta residents and visitors a true taste of German culture. Located Downtown within the Luckie Marietta District, Der Biergarten fills a citywide void of beer gardens and authentic German fare while providing world-class service in a festive, traditional atmosphere. Co-owner Wolfgang Hartert, a local resident and native of Germany, provided much of the inspiration for Der Biergarten. As he says, “Atlanta needs a restaurant like Der Biergarten. The significant German population and business community in Atlanta is begging for an authentic dining experience. I know that Der Biergarten will provide Europeans, just like me, a place to share the rich heritage of Germany with American friends.” Der Biergarten is made up of an elegant white tablecloth dining room, an alley with Fussball and table shuffleboard, and, of course, the indoor/outdoor beer garden. With traditional family style seating -a la Munich- and multiple flat-screen TVs, the beer garden is the best place for watching European or American football! Enjoy our authentic German cuisine while being surrounded by Bavarian décor, such as the hand-painted trompe l'oeil ("illusionistic") murals by Alexi Torres Alonso and a German-manufactured model-railroad that circles the restaurant.

I needed something gluten free, and they had great sausages, sauerkraut and braised red cabbage. All very yummy.

“We went there twice during our stay”

Great German beers, great food, very accommodating - they give you samples of whatever beer you'd like; we enjoyed the beef & wiener schnitzel dish. Outdoor seating if the weather is nice

“EXCELLENT German Cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

I have stayed in Germany before and can speak to the authenticity of the food served here. It was fantastic! It was even better prepared than a few of the restaurants I ate at in Germany. I was blown away by how amazing it tasted. Everything was brilliant and delicious. Also, our waiter/bar tender, Calvin, was extremely knowledgeable about the different beers and dishes and every recommendation he made was wonderful! I will definitely be eating here again next time I'm in ATL.

Also, if you're in the aquarium, Olympic park, coca-cola area, it is just one block down, perfect walking distance!

“South Germany in the deep South”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

Hey y'all, can you say "beer?" 'Cuz that's how you say it in German too... bier. A lotta us Southerners have German heritage, so come on over to "Der Biergarten" and see how our ancestors drank it German style. Have some authentic sausage on a crisp bun, with sauerkraut, and much more! Tip a few back of the finest beer in the world, enjoy the music, fun & excitement. I know I sound like a commercial, but I can say from my heart that this is the most authentic German restaurant in Atlanta.
