“100th Birthday Celebration for Julia Child”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

Two restaurants in the Buckhead Group celebrated the Julia Child 100th this week. We chose Bistro Niko and could not have been more pleased. The fixed three course menu of authentic Julia Child dishes was exquisite. The mimosa sald and the rate Thon served warm were great starters followed by Dover Sole on a bed or harcorts vert and garnished with boiled potatoes in a fragrant butter sauce which was beyond compare as the herbs came through and it was rich but light at the same time. We over ate on the dessert of stawberry shortcake and crepe suzette both perfect in every detail. The service was unobtrusive, timely and on point and did I mention the perfect martini and gibson! Jula Child would have been right at home in this noisy, full of life and great food environment.

“excellent”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

wnet there last night---wanted to try something different from our usual haunts-Made a res thru Opentable and it was ready when we got there--including my request fo a booth. Out waiter, Paolo, was right there for drinks and explained the menu and specials. The 2 wines we picked were excellent, i got a nice bordeaux, my wife a pino Noir.Started out woith the cheese puffs with the drinks--they were very tasty and warm.I had the sepia provencal, which was cuddlefish served over a tomatoe covered in a basil puree--excellent--my wifes house salad was very good. Then the entree--i had beef bourgenoin, my wife a chicken special with mushrooms.mine was the best i ever had, very tender, great sauce, very crusty truly special---my wifes chiclen was very tender, with a kind of crust to it with no skin. I had the rum dessert, my wife cappuchino--ok but not great.Servicewas just right.Meal was reasonable, bill was 100 bucs, 3 glasses of wine.Word of caution, make a res in the parlor, the bigger bar area is VERY noisy.Overall, excellent experience, maybe a little improvement on coffee and dessert

“Nice Surprise”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

My wife and I stumbled on Bistro Niko. We were staying in a hotel nearby and was looking for a nice place to have a dinner. We liked what we saw as we drove by along the road and decided to turn around and give them a try. We had a couple of very nice surprises. First, it just so happened to be Bastille Day and the bistro was in a celebratory mood. Second, the food and the staff was excellent. We will be going back on future trips to the area

“As a bistro should be ...”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

Bistro Niko is a relatively authentic bistro on the main floor of an office tower in Buckhead. It's more charming than you'd expect from the exterior.

After reading several reviews that commented on the noise level in the main dining room, we decided to sit in the smaller dining room. We wound up at a table for 2 at the end of a very long row of tables. The tables are close and it is still "energetic", but that's part of the bistro experience.

The menu has an abundance of choices - from steak frites to lamb shank to fish to pizzas. We decided to stick with the authentic and had green salads and (hanger) steak frites. My salad was basic but good, although it could have used a touch more vinaigrette. My partner chose an endive salad that he enjoyed. The steaks were good, as were the fries. Nothing spectacular, but certainly "good". As this was a celebration, we both had sundaes for dessert and the home made ice cream was really, really good. I'd go back for the desserts alone.

We both had wine by the glass and there was a large selection. I especially enjoyed the selection of wines from Burgundy. The bottles were reasonably priced, and had driving not been a consideration I would have gone for the bottle as it was much cheaper than by-the-glass.

Service was very good. Our waiter was helpful but not hovering.

The prices are reasonable. Entree prices were between about $19 and $30 >>> which is moderate compared to a lot of more "interesting" restaurants.

A couple of notes - this is a relatively noisy restaurant, so if anyone has hearing problems this may be an issue. Ask for the smaller dining room to escape some of the din. There are plenty of large round tables (6 to 8 on average) so it's a good restaurant for a group. Oh, and try the gourgeres if you want a light little snack to go with your cocktail.

“Always a fav!”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

Had dinner ( third visit) and had another fabulous meal. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit- wide spaces, lots of people and a great "buzz" in the restaurant. Food and drinks are delicious and the best part- not scarily expensive.
