Owner description: This stunning, porcelain-enameled building was designed by famed architect Richard Meier and is rivaled only by the art inside. Featuring American, European and African art, as well as decorative art and photography, the High Museum boasts a permanent collection of over 11,000 pieces, many of which can be viewed from different levels of the four-story, glass atrium.

Went to see the Frida Kahlo/Diego Rivera exhibit. I was impressed. Nice museum. I think some museums (Indianapolis art museum for example) have a better regular collection than they do, but it was still really fun. It ended up being cheaper to get a year membership, than to pay for 6 of us, so we did that.

A very works-inclusive exhibition, well-mounted in every respect. Did you ever think you'd see a life-size replica of Diego's Rockefeller mural? The only missing work of Frida's: The Suicide of Dorothy Hale. Everything else is there and then some. Also, hands down the best Audio Guide format I have ever experienced. Not only easy to use, but it's interactive and includes video extras. Definitely worth getting.

iWhile you're at it, don't miss the Howard Finster permanent exhibit in the High's Folk Art Section.

When you're done, go home and read or listen to Barbara Kingsolver's The Lacuna if you haven't yet. Since Frida & Diego figure prominently in this historically-based fiction it will further enhance the exhibit.

Terrific experience.

I'm not an art expert - but I went to the High Museum of Art to see the Frida and Diego exhibit. It was wonderful. I had read The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver a few months ago and the story centers around Frida and Diego. It was such a "fantastical" story that googled as I read to determine what was fact or fiction. Most of it is fact and I was amazed that I knew so little about them. Anyway - the exhibit was great and I feel lucky to have seen it.

I was staying in Buckhead and took the MARTA to the Arts Center stop. The MARTA stop literally connects to the Arts Center (which is a group of museums). This means that you can get to the Arts Center from about anywhere in Atlanta for $3. Very nice Atlanta!
