“"Great Staff and Location...but!”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

We decided to spend the weekend downtown to be near the football game and concert we were attending. We have stayed at numerous Four Season properties in the past. They are always top notch and much enjoyed. The staff at the Atlanta location were great, each check in. They greet you by name and are always prompt and professional. Having said that the down side to this property is the décor. The rooms are really outdated and tired. They belong in a class with Holiday Inn or Hampton. The restaurant service was a little slow but room service was great. All in all I would have to pick the St. Regis over this property. The Four Seasons Atlanta falls short of the mark.

This hotel has so much potential. The restaurant has a rooftop organic garden---even beehives--to keep it real for the guest meals--we had a great kale/cucumber concoction at breakfast, but I was surprised to see commercial honey at the table after I heard about the bees.
The staff is excellent; very attentive. The house car is a tricked out black jaguar sedan and driver James couldn't be more suited for the job. The room was cleaned expertly each day and they visited late in the day for turndown. A table was set out each day in the lobby with complimentary coffees and teas with all the accessories.
It just doesn't seem like a 5 star resort/hotel, though--no paper at your door in the AM, lobby is big, but dated furniture and some type of giant black urns are arranged so that you have to turn to your side and scoot around between them in order to make your way to the elevator--watch it if you have your luggage. Lounge is a bit better, but again--needs a decor update. The gym was well maintained and the staff, again, excellent. But nothing outstanding--we usually stay at the Loew's, and the gym (Exhale) is superior all the way around. The room was just basic and the bed was very old, with 'people divots' on each side, however the feather bed did help the comfort level. My husband also had an issue at the front desk with our Amex being charged twice for our stay--after explaining carefully that we have two cards that come from one account, he was assured the account was credited--unfortunately, it was not and he had to embark on the same tedious conversation with the hotel manager. Eventually the problem was corrected, and they left us an apology note and a nice amenity in our room.
There are so many issues that could be corrected easily and make it a a more desirable destination when we visit Atlanta---and for those who would normally stay at the Loew's or one of the 'cooler' hotels, but maybe that is not the desired customer here.
Anyway, we had a nice quiet room and a normal, nice stay for our long weekend. Not bad, but not 5 star. I might stay again for the right price.

Room Tip: We were facing north and overlooked the organic garden. Very very quiet!

I travelled here for business and had high expectations of The Four Seasons. In my opinion the hotel was somewhat "dated" although done well in it's day, perhaps the 1970's? The bathrooms had small showers, with marble floors in the shower, I was terrified I would slip. There were no fans in the bathroom or if there were mine was not working. Several of my colleagues complained in the middle of the night the 1980's black, low toilets would start running and kept them up all night. Several of them had issue's with cleaning, turn down service coming into the room while they were in there, even with the do not disturb sign.
Food was very expensive, but good. There were not many selections at the Terrace Restaurant. I was trying to eat healthy and had to keep ordering the crab cakes, to avoid taco's, cheese plates, burgers and other not favorable choices.
Breakfast for one, simple always seemed to be around $40 and that was not a big order. The food servers and the hotel people did not tell us there was a coffee bar in the lobby so I could avoid the $5 charge at the restaurant. I can go on but I won't.
Overall disappointing visit.

The hotel was very pleasant. It is in an excellent and central location. It has a very nice swimming pool and gym. The rooms are a little dated but clean, comfortable and good quality bathroom products.

Staff is wonderful, rooms are plush, close to great restaurants, very elegant and rich decor, great weight room and indoor pool. Highly recommended for intowners or outoftowners. Ask for a terrace room!

Michael G,

Thanks so much for your review. The Spa is indeed amazing. On your next visit, be sure to experience some of the treatments using ingredients from our very own rooftop garden. We're so glad you enjoyed your visit and we hope to see you again, soon.

The staff were amazing, from valet to housekeeping to concierge/front desk to restaurant service. I was a little disappointed because the building and rooms were not as exceptional as the staff. The building was very clean and well appointed but it was not charming or especially elegant. It looked like a Marriott or Hyatt and I expected a little more from Four Seasons. But, again, the service was exceptional and the place was clean and lovely...just not memorable.
