This was a last minute thing we did. We went in the building to just take a peep and ended up buying tickets for the tour. The tour was very informative and we enjoyed it. My 14 year old son thought it was really good and he is hard to impress.

We took our Grandson on this tour and he was just thrilled with what he saw. He is 12 years old and he was with us for a week. We purchased the tourist pass from the city and it was a savings. THis was one of the sites and my wife and I were most impressed with the tour.

Unless you are familiar with media and TV news broadcast, this is a must-see attraction. I strongly recommend the VIP tour as you get to see the intense live action inside the control room in addition to several other places that are not included in the regular tour. You also get a complimentary photo taken at the mock studio (which is not included in the regular tour). I can understand why people might get upset after the regular tour ($16).... but the VIP tour ($35) is clearly worth $.

This was a riveting hour. A whistle stop tour behind the scenes, at times within feet of live broadcasts separated only by a glazed panel, real time views of the 80 strong newsroom groaning under monitors and info feeds, how an autocue works, how the weather map behind the forecaster works, listen in to the programme directors as they instruct camera angles, notifications to new anchors in real time again. And he building itself is breathtaking, a giant atrium with the worlds longest free span escalator taking you up to the tour start. A great trip.

The tour presents an overview of the newsmaking process, by which I mean, you get to look from observation points to see people working. The entry is from an extremely long escalator, and you can purchase photos of your group behind a CNN desk. There is a mock up of a newsroom, teleprompter and green screen. Unless there is something intense happening, there is not too much action that you will see.
Good tour, especially if you've never been to a TV studio before.
