“Surprised to find this”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

I have lived in Atlanta for the majority of my life and I never knew that this well-kept secret museum existed. While the exhibit is fairly small, it is very wonderful, price appropriate and a treasure in the Atlanta area. Who knew???

“Nice museum - worth a visit.”

Lot's of Roman, African, South American and Egyptian artifacts. The only downside was that the Early American Hall was closed for renovations while we were there. Would have liked to see that part. You could easily spend a few hours here!

“The Carlos Museum at Emory, Worth a Visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

On a recent visit to my family in Decatur, Ga., I visited the Carlos Archaeological Museum at Emory University. Although small, the museum has quality works from a number of ancient civilizations. A particular focus is Egypt. There are a number of mummies, stele and other works that give some sense of the richness and complexity of this ancient civilization. There are also areas devoted to Greece, Rome, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. The permanent collection is supplemented by interesting temporary exhibitions. This is a small, focused university museum that is worth a visit.

“Great experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

The museum is a little hard to find tucked away on the Emry University campus, but some of the best mummies around. It was free, lots of great guides and while it doesn't take a long time to go through, it was great for adults and kids. Fantastic egyptology section!

This museum is simply amazing. Be prepared to see so many artifacts from all around the world. Pretty good entry price too.
