This is a very well-done historic site and manages to capture the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. in a moving and interesting way. Entering the original Ebenezer Baptist Church where MLK Jr. once preached, gives goose-bumps. A tour of the King home, is awe-inspiring, bittersweet. The whole Sweet Auburn area is of interest due to its rich history and cultural importance; don't miss a chance to visit and learn more about one of America's most important and inspirational leaders. Highly recommended for young and old.

My boyfriend and I decided to go to Atlanta to look at houses and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to pay respects to Dr. King... It was also special because we happened to be there for his birthday... I would definitely recommend people make there way there to do the same.

We ended up visiting the site during the MLK holiday weekend. For this reason, I suspect there were more visitors there than usual - but it wasn't overcrowded (I'm used to crowds in San Francisco).
I was surprised to see the double crypt of Dr. King and his wife in the center of the reflecting pool as I had no idea it would be there. Across from the reflecting pool is the eternal flame monument. A recording of the "I Have A Dream" speech plays on speakers in the plaza. Taking the time to really listen to the speech in this setting is quite a moving experience.

Across Auburn Street is more of a museum, gardens & mural. I wish I had had more time to explore them.

On the corner is Ebenezer Baptist Church where Dr. King served for a time. It was pretty cool to see their sign was vintage neon.
