We happened to be in Atlanta, meeting some friends. We happened upon Olympic Centennial park and had a blast spending a good portion of the day here. Our children (and some husbands) played in the water park section, where water spits up from the ground at different intervals. They were hosting the mini Olympics just down the hill (for kids and teenagers) and there was a private concert happening. Although we couldn't enter, we got to enjoy the very public music. The people were friendly enough and I liked that there was a police and security presence. We ended up walking late into the night and all of the streets were still well lit and people were still walking around. It felt safe enough through the park and there are planty of hotels and restaurants near.

This park adjoins CNN, Aquarium and Coke locations. Grab a lunch from CNN foood court and head to park. Well kept and safe, gardens and water display are worth viewing. We walked through the park twice so that we could see the entire landscape

Pretty cool place. The entire park was nice. There's even a nice little burger spot there too. They also have one of those things where the water shoots up out of the ground. Most of the kids seemed to be having a great time with that attraction. There are many different things around the park that are related to the Olympics of course, so you'll get a little history lesson also.

World of Coke is fun, but Centennial Park is only nice until about 8pm, when you have to start fearing for your life. For the most part, downtown Atlanta is boring. There's really no "wow" factor. Georgia is a nice state, but Atlanta itself is unexceptional.

If there was any data about the Olympic bombing and the history, we didn't see it. And we tried to walk from the World of Coke to the CNN tower and had to walk WAAAY around the park. A lame statue, nothing much to see.
