Owner description: This sanctuary became a spiritual haven for civil rights activists when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served as senior pastor in the 1960s. On the self-guided audio tour, King's inspirational sermons will take visitors back in time, while the new Horizon Sanctuary across the street is home to the present day congregation, highlighted by its traditional tabernacle choir.

It was very beautiful and I was proud to step foot in a historical building like this. They had a little bit of everything from Dr. King's clothing, Mrs. King's clothing, pictures, and other artifacts that would add to my speeches and lesson plans.

We visited this church where an amazing man was launched into history. I was moved by the sermon which was playing over the speakers.

This church is neither palatial nor humble but homey and lovely, I thought it fitting for a man who served and who preached peace and love. There is an informative display In the church basement with some very interesting photos.

I love history and I love learning about the civil rights movement. The church is very interesting because when you enter you have to go upstairs to enter the sanctuary. They have a recording of one of MLK's sermons, it is really loud though and I think you could understand it better if it was turned down some. Don't miss this site.

Just to be seated in a place where Dr. King once stood to preach to his congregation was so uplifting and I had a feeling of pride as a African American. He stood for right for all people and he will never be forgotten!

We who loved MLK and admire his incredible accomplishments are always seeking to understand the key elements that moulded MLK into the great man he became. Sitting in a pew at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, clearly located on the wrong side of the tracks and yet within spitting distance of magnificent modern Atlanta, and reflecting on the passions and influences of the three generations of the King family who served as pastors in this church helps us understand one such element and makes for a truly emotional, almost spiritual experience.

I believe that the national park service needs to reexamine how it interprets this site. So much more could be accomplished using today's technologies and real people. Park rangers shuffling hordes of school kids in and out of an empty, once vibrant, church building just does not cut it, in my view. Look at all the positive comments whenever someone actually stood up and spoke MLK's words from the pulpit. So much good material to work into a great, moving, learning experience.
