Owner description: Margaret Mitchell's one and only novel, "Gone with the Wind," was born in an apartment in this turn-of-the-century Tudor Revival mansion. “Margaret Mitchell House”

It is a short walk from the Mid-Town MARTA station so is easy to get to. I learned a lot about Margaret and the historical context from this and the tour guide was excellent. I have never been a fan of the film but the tour made me want to read the book.

Was not what we expected. Thought we were getting a tour of the house but it was one room in the intire home. Very boring.

“A little slice of Southern History”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

The Margaret Mitchell House and tour were great. How exciting to be in the same room where one of the greatest American novels was written. Our tour guide (also named Margaret) was very entertaining and knew a great deal about Margaret Mitchell. The museum artifacts were very interesting, and the tour of Ms. Mitchell's (super tiny) apartment was very well done. The museum also had a side exhibit about the making of the movie Gone With The Wind that was quite nice. Any fans of Gone With The Wind should definitely make this a priority on their visit to Atlanta.

I enjoyed learning about the life of Margaret Mitchell and the circumstances of her book-writing. She was an interesting woman, ahead of her time. Our tour guide, (also Margaret) was knowledgeable and entertaining. Even more enjoyable was the movie-on-a-loop across the courtyard telling about the making of the movie and the premier in Atlanta. I couldn't believe the special effects used at this time to fill in the sets. Also, I had heard all my life about the premier and what an event it was, but was astounded at the filmed news footage. If you are a Gone With the Wind fan this attraction is a must see.

“Nice and short tour”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

If you like all the trappings of gone with the wind take in this sight. It only takes a short time to do the tour of the room Margaret wrote her only book in. We were in Atlanta and just popped in while we were out walking. They show a film of how and where it was filmed that is a must see while you are there. They have the front doors of Tara they used in the movie.
