This park is of great historical importance to Atlanta. It is at Five Points… The center of downtown and the cornerstone MARTA station. Mr. Woodruff, the founder of the Coca-Cola Company, understood very well the importance of this central location. City Leadership does as well. So why the ho-hum review? On the one hand, the city is maintaining it very well. And it has stunning architectural features, like a fountain water wall to cool you down in HotLanta. But, on the other hand, there was no life to be found here. No one here, except at lunchtime. It should be buzzing… And sadly, it is not. Not much around to see either. Georgia State University has basically taken all the real estate around. I find it very interesting that the students don't use the park more. I have to assume they are all off for the summer. Essentially, historians can view the park as testimonial to how fervently Atlanta leaders have tried to preserve a vital downtown. The park and Underground Atlanta nearby are just plain sad. Go for lunch but don't expect much.

If you're downtown and are out and about, this is a nice place to sit for a minute. There are some fountains, some places to sit, and a playground. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but if you're there, you might as well check it out.

Instead of another skyscraper, people with a sense for marrying trees and concrete together gave birth to a park called Woodruff. A couple blocks from 5 corners metro station it's a refreshing reprieve and a place to people watch, and enjoy a cup of tea in the shade.
