This is our 5th time to Andalucía and this year we ended up here at La Fontana. The weather wasn't as good as previous years but if you are looking for a pure Spanish experience, living like a local, then this place is for you. I spent hours sitting on the veranda, in the rain (but it was still warm) reading my books. The views from the finca are gorgeous and the peace and quiet is astonishing. We spent most of the time around the house because we simply wanted to relax. We did venture to the coast and within the hour, we were on a quiet beach. Ronda is also worth a visit. The resident dog is lovely. I'll miss him. The house itself is as rustic as you can imagine but very comfortable. No TV (brilliant). It gave us quality time together as a family. The famous 'white villages ' are completely surrounding you and it's only a 5 minute walk to Cortes De La Frontera, your own white village. The locals are friendly and there are enough bars and restaurants to keep you fed and watered. I used to walk into the village and go to the bar where most of the locals drank. Cheap beer/wine and a real experience you can't find at home. No one speaks English here, so be prepared with a phrase book or hand gestures. As I said earlier, this is the 5th time in Andalucía and I always come at the end of October. It sets me up nicely for the British winter. The owner was a genuinely nice person who was there if you needed her for anything but didn't bother us in the slightest. Access to the property was quite daunting on the first attempt but it was easy really. (Just seemed very steep). But that's what you get when you live in the mountains. Plenty of wildlife, including enormous vultures and spectacular views. If you want 'real Spain', you will not be disappointed here.
