Having spent our 25th and 40th wedding anniversaries and other holidays at Molino del Santo, this review is badly overdue - but better late than never!

A few miles outside Ronda, Molino del Santo is set at the bottom of the valley beside a mountain stream in the lower half of the 'white' village of Benaojan. The air is clear with an almost alpine feel to it. The local train, which runs a few times a day, is very useful for either short trips (perhaps the return leg of a walk) or to venture much further afield. The countryside around is stunningly beautiful with several very different national park areas and the famous white villages.

The hotel is a skilfully converted mill with later additions carefully blended to form a visually appealing whole. The original heart of the mill is now a sitting room with plenty of books on the local area and a log fire on cool evenings. Bedrooms and bathrooms are immaculate, most with a balcony or terrace. The garden overflows with flowers planted in every conceivable container from terracotta pots to giant olive jars.

The restaurant's local popularity tells its own story and it serves superb, locally sourced, food either indoors or on the terrace running along the stream. Breakfast is comprehensive and almost all homemade.

English owners and Spanish staff combine to make an unbeatable team.

Sitting in the beautiful garden with amazing views across the valley and only the sound of birds and the rushing stream is a magical and unforgettable experience.

When you run a busy hotel and restaurant it is difficult to do everything so I use that as an excuse for not replying individually to all the kind people who have posted reviews for us recently. This response is for all of them to thank them so much for taking the time and trouble to support us and for saying such complimentary things. As some reviewers suggest we really do care about what our guests think - and we do listen and use customer comments to make improvements that raise the standard of our service.

We have hundreds of people who return every year to Molino del Santo - and we hope that many more people will join that happy band. Not only does their support ensure the hotel thrives even in difficult economic times but means we can offer secure jobs to our brilliant and hard-working staff. Thanks to everyone who makes our hotel so special and successful.

We stayed here 3 nights in room #9. It was so big and comfortable and the best thing was the covered patio with its own couch sitting area. Even though it rained alot on our trip the hotel had a beautiful fireplace and reading/game room, which was great for our kids. Also the resteraunt was amazing, great quality food and make sure you order some sangria! The countryside is beautiful, so driving to different towns and sights was no problem. Loved it here!

Room Tip: Room #9 has its own patio w/couch and table and chairs. Great area to sit and enhoy the view.

Returned to Molino del Santo to celebrate our wedding anniversary this time. Once again met by friendly, efficient staff. Great room. As usual the food was excellent, as was the weather.
Can't wait until next year. Well done to all the staff again.

What makes this and other truly exceptional hotels earn thir kudos is attention to detail. Molino del Santo is in a wonderful location at once restful yet exciting. The rooms are gorgeous, the garden exquisite, the pool is great and the food to die for. We had only one night but could have easily stayed 3-4.

Room Tip: Go for a suite overlooking the pool - definitely worth it

A wonderful hotel with an excellent restaurant tucked away in the mountains near Ronda. A peaceful retreat run by an English couple with helpful Spanish staff and a great kitchen. In a conservation area on a picturesque river.

Having recently returned from our 15th visit to this amazing hotel we can honestly say it just gets better each year. Each holiday we discover new villages and walks - the wild flowers this spring were especially beautiful. We are already planning our visit for next year!

We booked for an eight night stay here as part of a four week bird watching holiday in Spain. We received the usual Molino warm and friendly welcome on arrival and throughout our stay the staff were helpful, cheerful, informal and very efficient. The food is excellent and Victor's management of the dining room was a pleasure to watch. The site is immaculately cared for and the countryside around is both beautiful and spectacular and the wildlife is unforgettable. The walks described in Tony Bishop and Eva Bratek's book, on sale at the hotel, are very well described and Eva's knowledge of the flora and fauna of this area of Andalucia is impressive, allowing us to see a wide variety of birds by spending time with her. This was our third visit and for us, this hotel sets the standard that we would like other hotels to aim for.
