“excellent trout, very nice wine”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

This is a very cosy and friendly restaurant. We had dinner by the fireplace which was excactly what we needed on a cold march evening. The wine was surprisingly good : Ibarguen 2010, a local wine and the trout really really delicious! Very nice staff, and very affordable.

“Lovely and enjoyable”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

I agree with Rick Steves and the local "I" both of which said this is the best place in town. We had a lovely lunch, which would pass as a great dinner in the US. While I usually go with seafood both my wife and I opted for "roast" or was it "baked" lamb. In any event we were each bought an entire leg of lamb, which just fell off the bone. Every aspect of the meal was wonderful. This is the place to go.

“The best in Town”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

An unlikely location, on the edge of a car park, but it is quiet in the evenings & dining outside in summer is most pleasant, always strollers to watch! The menu of salads & other starters, including several soups, offers more than adequate choice, ranging beyond the normal Andaluz fare, to include superb Venison steaks, wild rabbit, etc. We've eaten there in each of the past 4 years & haven't been disappointed. The two brothers, who own both "Meson Simancon" & restaurant "El Torreon", just out of sight round a corner, are friendly, helpful & informative, & run both venues to the same standard. Fortunately, they close on different days, so one is never disappointed! First class & good value.

“One of the best meals I ate in Spain”
Reviewed June 15, 2012

What a charming meal we had here. My wife and I both had the menu of the day, which cost around 12 euros per person. Everything was top-notch except for the asparagus soup, which was a bit too oily. The trout was some of the best fish I have ever had in my life. The people who work there were gracious and competent. If you make it to Grazalema, check out Meson El Simancon!

“Charming local restaurant”
Reviewed June 4, 2012

Despite being in the village square by the car park the situation was relaxed and had a great view of the mountains. The food was very good and the waiters very friendly and helpful. We ate there a couple of times and would have frequented it more had we been there longer.
