“One Of The Best Inn Experiences Ever”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

If you're looking to stay in the Woodstock area, and prefer a smaller inn experience, you have to stay at the Jackson House Inn. The owners are very welcoming and are proud of the historical Inn that they run. Everyone comments about the breakfasts, and it's all true. We loved the explanations of each locally sourced ingredient. The flavor combinations were out of this world. I only wish that lunch and dinner were also served as I'd eat every meal there! The room was nice and we liked the new jacuzzi tub. It actually got so warm inside with the fireplace we had to open the door to let some cool air in. Our only issue was that we could hear people walking back/forth upstairs quite loudly. If this bothers you, pick an upstairs room. For dinner, we ate at Simon Pearce and the Red Rooster in the Woodstock Inn, both we really enjoyed. Can't wait to go back and have more gourmet breakfast!

What a beautiful inn, including the gorgeous grounds. Our excellent room overlooked the gardens, and the dusting of snow on Sunday morning added a perfect touch! Breakfast is overwhelming - delicious, and enough rich food to last you until dinner. Had heard reports of the bacon with brown sugar and pecans and it was truly excellent.

I'm not big on leaving reviews but this is one place where I absolutely had to leave one. My wife and I took a trip to Woodstck from CT for a quiet weekend without the kids. After reading various reviews of B&B's in the area I chose the Jackson House Inn. We were absolutely delighted with our decision. The Inn itself was fabulous. The rooms were nicely furnished and super clean. We stayed in the Francesca suite, which was a slightly larger room with a great view of the grounds. Although the Inn itelf was great, what makes a B&B, in my opinion, is the innkeepers. Kathy and Rick were the best. From the moment we arrived through checkout, they provided first class hospitality. Rick's breakfasts were out of this world. In fact, I suggested he publish a cookbook. The food he prepares is not your typical bacon and eggs with a side of bacon type of breakfasts. He uses only the freshest vermont ingredients and prepares them in a way that will just blow your pallet away. If you are headed anywhere near Woodstock, VT and need a GREAT place to stay, look no further, this is the place!!!

The breakfasts are 5 star, our room was cozy and the Inn Keepers were available to assist whenever they were called on. We were in the Cranberry Room, well appointed with direct access to the well landscaped back yard. Definitely a B and B that I would return too.

My wife and I have had many B&B experiences over the years and have our favorites. We both agree, however, this is Number One. High quality furnishings throughout and service to match, this is an easy going place with healthy delicious breakfasts that never cease to amaze. We have been here three times in the last four years and always leave with the same sense of appreciation for excellence. Rick and Kathy set the standard and we'll be coming back. OK - if you want to be picky, the room lighting is a bit dim as others have mentioned and TV's are small.

Room Tip: Suites are great - we like the Francesca room in particular.

We decided to end a hiking holiday in New Hampshire, en route to Ottawa, Canada in Woodstock, Vermont. As the earlier part of the trip was quite busy, we wanted to end our vacation on a relaxing note. We stayed in the Francesca suite in the Jackson House Inn and had a wonderful stay, courtesy of Rick and Kathy, owners of the inn. Rick is a creative, conscientious chef, who sources his ingredients locally if possible, preparing delicious breakfasts daily. We stayed for three days so we were able to enjoy three very different preparations (all of them extraordinary) and as I had mentioned I was lactose intolerant, Rick was careful to make adjustments to his recipes to accommodate my dietary needs. Kathy is a consummate hostess, making the experience very special by assisting in providing recommendations for local dining experiences and also making reservations. We enjoyed a unique meal at Cloudland farm thanks to their recommendation. The inn is elegantly furnished and the gardens are beautifully landscaped. Our view from the suite offered a serene outlook onto the garden and the hills in the background.

Room Tip: The suites facing the garden have a private balcony from which one can enjoy the night sky.

We were diverted here when one of the owners of our booked B&B were taken ill. The Jackson House stepped up to help out their friend and put is in one of their beautiful rooms at our original booked price, although well below their standard rate. The rooms were truly beautiful, and the grounds are stunning. The breakfasts were truly 5-star and our hosts were incredible. We travel the world and this was one of our finest stays in our own backyard! A little pricey, but worth it.
