This place is perfection. From the warm welcome, to the luxe bedding to the outstanding locavore gourmet breakfast, it is outstanding. Kathy and Rick even arranged the perfect snowfall for our stay: enough to frost the trees, but not enough to shovel ;). Located just over a mile from Woodstock Center the Inn is warm, welcoming and luxurious without being stuffy. Don't bother staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: two of the suites have a 2 flight hike up to the room. Rick will carry your bags, but it is 28 step...

We truly appreciate your willingness to share your experience with others - thank you for such positive feedback on your time with us. While we would love to take the credit, the snowfall is one detail we can only hope for. However, our goal is to create the atmosphere you describe - warm, welcoming and luxurious. Thank you for letting us know we achieved it! And, yes, those stairs to the third floor balcony suites do give all of us a workout, but we hope the view and the privacy make it all worthwhile. We look forward to seeing you in the future!

From the first contact you have with the Jackson House Inn to the last, you are tended to with the highest consideration. This bed and breakfast is impeccable, creative and inviting. In our many years of travel, we have never spent time in a B&B like this. Kathy and Rick have so clearly spent hours envisioning this experience for their guests and have not missed a detail. Rick's breakfast's are spectacular, using fresh and local suppliers to create a meal that is outstanding.
We look forward to many returns in the future. Thank you, thank you.

A belated review from Sept 2012. We spent two nights there for a wedding. I can say it was a pleasure. Be sure that you get up for breakfast. Memorable time with hosts who could not do enough for you. We hope to return and have recommended the inn to friends already.

Room Tip: Do not skip breakfast !!!

Mid-September will always be full of special memories for us - thank you for allowing us to host you for such a beautiful event. We sincerely appreciate the kind words about your guest experience. Weddings and events bring such joy; our goal was to take any questions or needs out of everyones' minds to keep the focus only on the moment. We look forward to welcoming you and your friends to The Jackson House in the future!

Absolutely the best place we stated in Vermont!!! Food is wonderful. Great dining experience. Our room was way to small and so was the bathroom but it was the only room available. Excellent Place! We did get hungry at night but did not want to drive into town. Wish they had some deserts offered. Perfect Host! Grounds are amazing!

Let me start by saying that my hubby and I generally shy away from small inns or BNB's so as to avoid the intrusion and frills that we tend to associate with them.

But from the moment I saw the Jackson House Inn website to my first conversation in planning our trip with (owner) Kathy, I felt completely at ease.

Some highlights:
• ultra peace and quiet in our beautiful, spacious room with an indescribably gorgeous view (Malena's Room)
• Rick's breakfasts (WOW! Just go and trust him to knock your wigwam's off. And I say this from a NYC foodie perspective)
• Rick and Kathy's excellent guidance in planning our day's activities and evening restaurants
• The common areas in the Inn are gorgeous and warm and regal. There is nothing cutesy about it, and that is, in the words of Martha, a very good thing.
• spending time getting to know RIck and Kathy. They are so much fun, so genuine and special. We would get home after dinner each of our four nights and hope they were awake so we could wrangle them into a drink at their lovely bar. (ok, we followed them around like puppies)

It is difficult to convey in words the level of care and excellence that Kathy and Rick lovingly put into every detail of our stay, and how truly memorable they made it for us.

This is the first and only time I've been compelled to write a review here but I wanted to pay my gratitude and admiration forward.

Room Tip: We stayed in Malena's Room and I rec it, or any of the other 3 rooms in the annex. I am quite su...

We stayed at the Jackson House Inn in late November for 5 nights. Kathy and Rick are marvelous hosts, who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable.

Jackson house itself is a treat for the eye, the wood detail is gorgeous and warm and well preserved. We stayed in Clara’s Suite and it was a lovely room. I did have to make use of the steps provided for the high bed, as my short legs did not make the stretch. The room was exquisitely turned out, the bed comfortable and the bedding of excellent quality. The bathroom is a romantic dream, the tub for two demands to be used and the gas fireplace in the morning while drinking a morning coffee before breakfast is a treat.

On to breakfast, oh my!!!! Rick is a passionate cook; he is passionate about fresh produce and passionate about sourcing the very best ingredients for his dishes. He is mindful of preferences and I just loved being given the choice of having more traditional breakfasts with his twist or were we up to having our taste buds challenged. I myself am a devoted foodie and chose the challenge.

Rick excelled in a different and exciting two course breakfast every morning from pumpkin soufflé to his take on grits but done with a savoury twist, gorgeous goats cheeses paired with delightful and different varieties of sliced fresh apples, a quiche that deserves to be called something less humble than quiche, beautifully sourced organic eggs poached to absolute perfection to show off their creamy naturalness and taste. Truly, Rick’s passion for what he does is amazing. I hope this excellent cook always is inspired to keep that spontaneity and understanding of what is good food alive. Ricks philosophy is that breakfast should be more than just bacon and eggs and I loved every dish we had. An added bonus is that breakfast is served with an excellent blend of organic coffee of course and super fruit juices.

This is a stay that will be in our memories for a very long time; gracious hosts in a beautiful Inn and we will miss our divine breakfasts and the lovely high bed, romantic bathtub and view over the gardens from our room.

Room Tip: Each room is very individual. We loved Clara.
