“Great Experience.”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

Our two night stay was excellent in every way. A charming facility, tastefully decorated and providing all the hoped-for amenities. And the breakfasts were simply amazing. Rick's creativity was remarkable, and his commitment to local, organic ingredients provided a unique dining experience. Moreover, Rick and Kathy are attentive and gracious hosts, somehow being able to provide a personal level of service while keeping up with the needs of a large facility and well-kept grounds.
Highly recommended!

What a fabulous way to end our two week trip on the east coast. The Jackson Inn was one of the loveliest B&B's. The house is exquisitely decorated and it also imbues a homey and welcoming atmosphere. We stayed in the main part of the house and all the rooms were beautifully decorated and immaculately clean (finally, comfortable pillows on the beds, too). We really enjoyed relaxing in the library that also offers a myriad of books and magazines for reading...or maybe you want to enjoy a glass of wine in their mini-bar area. The hosts, Rick and Cathy are very attentive and gracious to all their guests. The breakfast were exquisite and something one really looked forward to. It was a culinary adventure reflected by Rick's enthusiasm for cooking and creating imaginative and unforgettable breakfasts. If you visit Woodstock this is the place to experience its charm.

We chose the Jackson House Inn for our first getaway without our son and Jackson House Inn was the perfect choice. The inn was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. The grounds were tranquil and the inn so relaxing. Thoroughly enjoyed my hour of reading in the library and losing myself in gardening books. Breakfast was probably the best we've ever had! Rick's passion for food shows up in his edible masterpieces. We love that he supports local producers. Kathy made sure we were comfortable and took great care in showing us around the inn and its amenities. Rick and Kathy are wonderful people and doing a fantastic job! Definitely choose the Jackson House Inn if visiting the Woodstock area. We'll be back:)

Where do you start! It is hard to believe that Rick and Kathy's have only recently begun the journey into Inn-Keeping, they are masters of their new profession. Welcoming, passionate and accommodating, you are made to feel very much at home in this beautifully restored historical homestead.

The attention to detail is fantastic. The lounge, library and sitting room are lightly scented by candles, the decor soft and in keeping with the age of the building without looking old and stuffy. Comfortable and warm describe it best.

We stayed in one of the smaller rooms which was perfect for us. The bed was wonderful, surrounded with furniture you would pick if you were lucky enough to live in such a nice house. We had a small bathroom that was very well appointed with a strong shower.

What qualifies Jackson House as a 5 star establishment is backed by Rick and Kathy's passion. Ricks determination to source local produce, often organic is commendable. Using this produce, Rick creates wonderful breakfast dishes that are delivered with a commentary explaining where the food has come from and how it is prepared. We did giggle when told we were receiving "a little bit of Vermont love" Quite endearing!

Both Rick and Kathy greet their guests with enthusiasm, showing each party around the property ensuring you feeling at home and have everything you require.

Our only regret was not staying longer. Highly recommend.

This Inn is quite simply of the highest quality in every respect. It is immaculate throughout, each of the communal areas was extremely comfortable, tastefully decorated and furnished as was our own room. The breakfasts are an experience not to be missed; Rick is clearly passionate about food and locally produced high quality ingredients in a particular. The Inn keepers are very welcoming and were happy to go the extra mile to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. This Inn felt like a home from home. The best place we stayed on our tour of New England.

Jackson House Inn was a perfect stop on our fall foliage tour. It was by far the best place we stayed during our trip and one of the best B&Bs we've visited. The location of the inn is perfect, a few minutes drive to town and easy access to other areas. The inn itself is immaculate (from the rooms, to the common areas to the grounds). You can literally eat off of the floor. We stayed on the third floor and had a balcony overlooking the backyard which was absolutely beautiful. Rick and Kathy (owners) were very hospitable and made you feel very welcomed. Rick's breakfast was amazing!!! It was very encouraging to see that he was so passionate about his meals and about the local farms that produced the food he used to cook breakfast. Don't think twice about staying here. If we make it up to Vermont again, this will be our very first stop!!!!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the third floor because of the wonderful views it provided and it was also very quiet. S...

The innkeepers have got service down to a science. We stayed in the Gloria Swanson room, small but well decorated with curly and tiger maple antiques. There are several public spaces in this old home which was originally built by a saw mill owner. Thus the floors are all a bit different. The library has a first class cookbook collection. Mark serves as chef and loves not only preparing a first class breakfast, but also explaining to the guests what they are eating. His emphasis is on fresh and local. The feel of the place is more like a boutique hotel than a B&B, but who can complain about that! Location-wise, it is a short drive into Woodstock so if you want to stay in the village, this is not the place for you.
