There are so many wonderful qualities of place and little details that make Kedron Valley Inn a great place to stay. First, the setting is beautiful. Perched on the curve of a country road, the stately Kedron Valley Inn main house is a welcoming sight with an open air porch the width of the building. When we arrived in late summer the porch was set up with tables and dinner was being served. Having scarfed down McDonalds happy meals only a few hours before our arrival at dinner time, we were not too hungry. But we did order the Ploughman's Platter, the Frisse salad and a special chilled soup of beets and peaches. So tasty! We stayed in the Adirondak cabin at the back of the property. The rooms were sophisticated rustic, with a log cabin look outside and in, a wood burning fire place and a Ponies for Rent sign hanging above the bed board. You can hear your neighbors if they are on the walk outside your room and this place is definitely family and dog friendly so keep that in mind. Overall it was a peaceful comfortable room. Our one major disappointment, and this was totally our fault, is that we forgot our swimsuits. The pond is lovely, and those swimming looked like they were having a ball. Breakfast is good too, pancakes, bacon, eggs, ham, cereal, blueberry maple yogurt, home fries, the works! they really fill you up for a busy day of exploring the nearby towns, hiking mt. tom and sampling cheese and maple syrup at Sugar Bush Farms. We hope to visit again someday, maybe in the winter when we can take a snowshoe hike, sit in front of the fire and listen to the snow fall.

Thank you for taking the time to write your kind review. We have made a lot of improvements to the entire KVI property, including the pet friendly Lodge rooms you stayed in, and it’s nice to hear that these efforts are appreciated. Your positive comments about your dining experience with us are also appreciated; we do our best to provide our guests with a warm and gracious environment and excellent food and service. We hope you’ll come back and visit this winter; there are many outdoor winter activities to enjoy in the area, including snowshoeing and skating at the Inn and cross country and downhill skiing nearby.

I spent Labor Day weekend with my wife at the Kedron Valley Inn. We very much enjoyed the newly renovated room and the staff could not have been more attentive and helpful. We had dinner at the restaurant both nights and it was fantastic. The Ploughman's Platter with fresh local cheese was a treat. The local hiking was a good way to start the day followed by a swim in the Inn's pond. We will be back for sure.

Room Tip: Really liked Room 22.

Thank you; we’re glad you had a wonderful visit to the KVI. We agree that our Getaway Package is a perfect way to experience Woodstock, the KVI and our restaurant at a bit of a discount from regular rates. We appreciate your positive comments about our new fall menu which we launched the weekend you joined us. We look forward to seeing you again!

Went here for a wedding recently. Room was descent, nothing special. Bathroom needed updating. Bed was ok. Pond was very nice, but it's only "open" for 6 hours a day. Right next to a fairly busy little country road, so not gonna feel secluded at all. Breakfasts (and the place does tout themselves as a bed and breakfast and has a full service restaurant) were typical continental variety that you'd find at a national chain in a buffet. Nothing like what I'd expect from a B&B especially for this price. Note to owners, if you want people to come in for dinner, best to give them a breakfast that wows! I heard that the dinners are pretty good, but I wasn't going to pay $25 to find out, especially considering the breakfasts.

I don't appreciate being taken for $240 a night for a completely average room just because I am within driving distance of Boston and NYC. I have stayed in places twice this nice for half the price with gorgeous views of the Rockies right out the window or even ocean front views.

This town in general is a ridiculous tourist trap and this place is equally ridiculous. Personally, I would only stay here if I had to, and luckily, I probably won't have to ever again.

We’re sorry that you didn’t enjoy your visit to the Woodstock area. The bride and groom having their wedding in Woodstock that weekend were so excited to share this piece of Vermont with their guests; they feel it is a special place. We are also sorry that you didn’t enjoy your room at the KVI. We have completed a near total renovation of the Inn, including new carpet, paint, window treatments and flat-screen TV’s, but there are a few baths which remain to be done this winter. Our complimentary and extensive hot breakfast has always been a highlight for our guests, as our many positive reviews show. We offer a rotating selection of house-baked muffins and breads, egg dishes, local bacon and maple-braised sausage, pancakes or waffles, and maple syrup made by our neighbors up the hill. In fact, the bride and groom chose to have a post-wedding brunch at the Inn because they love our breakfasts so much. The KVI is certainly not the most expensive Inn in the area, nor is it the cheapest. There are several local motels which offer more basic and simple lodging, without the charm and character of the KVI, that cost less than the KVI. The vast majority of our guests are more than happy they chose the KVI over the alternatives.

Just returned from two nights at Kedron Valley and it was perfect for our family of four. We booked the suite, Room 30, and it was beautiful! Large King BR for us downstairs with a large sitting area/kitchenette and two twin beds upstairs! One large bathroom with jacuzzi tub. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. Swimming in the clean pond was a highlight - loved the raft! Could have spent hours more reading on the porch. Great trip!

I had the pleasure of shaing a meal with several friends last evening at the Kedron Valley Inn. Even with thunder storms circling around the area, we sat on the front porch and had a delightful meal. Very nice menu, great selections and very reasonable prices. The food and service was outstanding and everyone was friendly. They made us feel at ease and I look forward to several repeat visits to work my way through all that they have to offer.

I called the Kedron a week before our stay to cancel our room based on Doctor's orders for me not to leave home due to risk of pre-term labor. This would have been our 2nd time staying at the Inn. 1st stay was relatively pleasant, barring the unwelcoming attitude towards our dog - even at a "dog friendly" place. When needing to cancel our 2nd visit, I was told they couldn't make any exceptions to their 2 week cancellation policy. They offered to postpone our reservation for 6 months but I explained again that I have a baby on the way and there would be no way we'd come within the 6 months. That was all they could offer.

Customer service goes a long way... if I felt they showed some understanding to our particular situation, than we'd consider staying there again. But that won't be happening.

Unfortunately, as a smaller property, late cancellations create major problems for us because it is often difficult to re-sell rooms at the last minute. We do have a more liberal cancellation policy than similar properties in the area. In this case, we offered to return the deposit if we could re-sell the room, and we made a special allowance for the guest to keep the deposit active for another 6 months without penalty, going above and beyond our standard policy. Like most other hotels, we suggest that guests secure inexpensive travel insurance in case of a last minute change in plans. It is unfair to place this burden on the Inn.

Just recently visited this inn and was impressed with the newly renovated rooms. The room was comfy and relaxing with its old worldly atmosphere. The staff was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and provide excellent service. In the tavern the food was outstanding and service was prompt. Would recommend anyone visiting Woodstock to stay at this inn. Overall the experience was excellent.
