We had 2 meals here. First night veggie burgers, quite good. Second night, mac and cheese with lobster, not so good.

I returned to the Woodstock Inn just prior to Christmas for lunch with friends, this having been a favorite location for many years.

While the quality of the food has not changed, and still remains very good, it is no longer the best price in this rather expensive Village. Unfortunately, The Tavern has joined the rest of the restaurants in town as being priced to the well-heeled tourist [something which has always been the case in their lodging costs]. This is a post-Irene change, as the Inn had been known as the most reasonably priced lunch spot in the Village for many years.

The luncheon menu is still imaginative and well prepared, with a range of selections which would appeal to all tastes, including children. The staff is friendly and attentive, though our server was slightly off rhythm as he had just arrived back from the West Coast on a 'red-eye' that morning. The only real complaint from any in the group was that a couple of the 'soup of the day' selections were rather salty; so, if you're on a sodium controlled diet, I would ask before ordering.

The atmosphere of the Inn and Tavern was very holiday, and provided a pleasant background for the lunch. And, regardless of the price, it still remains the best tasting lunch in Woodstock.

Just like an old tavern in England. Food was very good and a nice selection. Staff is friendly and efficient. Lovely fireplace for cold snowy night ambiance.

I did some research before our trip to the Woodstock area and this was one of the restaurant we wanted to try. We walk into the beautiful lobby to a huge welcoming fireplace. The front desk directed us to the tavern. We were seated right away. 7pm on a Tuesday night it was not crowded at all. Theres a fireplace in the tavern too with a couple couches to sit on. Service was very good, food came promptly. I had the soup of the day a sweet potato and I cant remember what else was in it. Was thick like applesauce but very good. Hubby had an excellent New England clam chowder. He also had a burger with some very good fries. I had the mac and cheese with apple butter which came in a skillet. I know. mac and cheese? I never order the stuff but it was comfort food. Creamy, very good. Couldnt finish it...wanted to leave room for dessert! We shared the chocolate torte. Pricy but excellent. Altogether a very positive dinner and we would go back if we are in the area.
