Hmmmm. I so wanted to love this place, but I left somewhat disappointed. As other reviews raved about the scallops and the pork shank, my wife and I thought both entrées were Wow! I felt the small plate menu lacked balance and our appetizers were dried out. My complaint is not with the level of service per se, but the lack of professionalism. From the hostess, to our server, to the owner who happened to be behind the bar, everyone at Malaza was friendly and attentive. However, by the time we arrived on Saturday night the staff was bemoaning how busy it was (Not the Owner or the Hostess). I get it. We visited Woodstock Village on Columbus Day weekend. My bad. But, please, I don’t want to hear about how hard it is for you. Our waitress arrived with dirty wine glasses and I asked that they be replaced with clean wine glasses. Moments later the waitress arrived with hurricane goblets. [Sigh.] Because our entrees were excellent and the staff was friendly I would recommend Melaza.
