“One of a kind!”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

Billings Farm and Museum is located within walking distance (1/4 mile) from downtown Woodstock and is certainly worth the price of admission. Billings Farm is an operational farm with horses, sheep, cows, chickens and other animals. The have tour guides who will lead you through all the steps needed to keep the farm operational e.g. milking the cows, sheering sheep, harvesting corn. They also have an exhibit on turning milk into cheese and butter that includes free samples!

“Two for one”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

Billings Farm and Museum is actually two attractions. A working farm that is a private operation and the Billings National Historical Park which is run by the US Park Service. You can buy a joint ticket which get you into both. The historical park consists mainly of a beautiful mansion constructed in the Queen Anne style in the middle 1800's. There is a tour by a park ranger of the house and you can then tour the beautiful grounds. The Farm has cows etc along with working demonstrations. The day we were there the demonstration was on butter making. there are also exhibits about cheese making and a variety of cheeses from Vermont artisanal cheese makers. The farm part of the property is particularly suited to children. The mansion tour is geared to adults. During the summer there are additional tours of other parts of the property and parts of the mansion not on the main tour. All in all a very worthwhile attraction.

My 2 year old loved getting the chance to pet cows and horses and run in the huge meadows here! The staff is very informative and friendly, too.

“You want us to go to a farm??”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Initially not the top stop on my list of things to do in Woodstock but I really enjoyed it. The farm is impressively clean and the staff are passionate about sharing what they love. My favorite bits were the farmhouse, watching Sue (the horse) get new shoes and the little lambs (whose fleece was white as snow)!
