“The best place for some real R&R”
Reviewed June 2, 2009

Absolutely loved the Hotel Villa Padierna.
The views are stunning. The sunset is breathtaking. Even if you don't play golf.

We were a bit 'overwhelmed' at first, because of the building, the people, the views, everything. But we got over it pretty fast because it's an amazing place to stay if you like to be left in peace, sleep like a baby, go out and explore Seville, Granada, Gibraltar and last, but not least, Malaga and Marbella and return to your hotel room and sleep some more...pure disconnection from the outside world.

If you like to play golf: wow, are you in for a treat! What an amazing golf course! Play golf in the sunset, shower and dress up after it and go out for a delicious dinner afterwards.

The only less positive things I can say is that they really should have Free Wireless Internet everywhere... They have Wireless Internet, but you have to pay 7 Euro per hour for it. And the parking costs 12 Euro a day! (even if you're staying at the hotel!) That's not the service level you want for that kind of money.

Room is clean, the persons cleaning the room very friendly, Spa-staff very friendly, Staff at the reception also very friendly.

The hotel has a mixture of guests (at least, when we were there) and that makes it interesting and welcoming.

We stayed at Villa Padierna for a week in March 2008. The hotel is absolutely stunning, the rooms are beautifully decorated and the staff were excellent. It was everything you could expect from a five star luxury hotel. Upon arrival we were upgraded and our room overlooked the magnificent golf course.

I do agree with another poster that the breakfast choices were not as big some of the other five star chains but the quality of the food was excellent and personally I think the bigger the buffet, the more waste there is so I did not find this to be a problem.

The outside pool area was lovely although the pool itself was not heated, however the guests have use of the gorgeous spa pool inside which more than made up for it.

The staff here were the most helpful and friendliest we have ever encountered, they were able to make excellent restaurant recommendations and booked ahead for us so everyone knew that we were coming and received extra special treatment. Everyone went the extra mile to make sure that you felt you were truly being looked after.

It is a bit out of the way from the beaches and marbella town so you would probably need to hire a car, the traffic can get quite bad so make sure to plan your journeys. I would also recommend going for the Sunday brunch at the Marbella Club - any foodlover will not be disappointed.

My husband and I stayed here in May 2008 during our trip to Spain to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. I booked this hotel because of the price and all the beautiful pictures I saw. After reading the reviews, I was worried about the location and the construction sites, but since we would be renting a car, we decided the location wouldn't be an issue. What was more important to us was that the hotel provided the atmosphere where we can relax -- and that we did. The hotel is absolutely stunning -- one of most beautiful and well decorate hotels I've ever stayed in. The service was excellent, as you would expect from Ritz Carlton. We enjoyed both indoor & outdoor pools -- it was such a treat to wake up and swin in the warm indoor pool every morning. The spa is an ansolute gem! We also played at the hotel's golf course -- although nice, it was NOT worth the momey. Overall, Hotel Villa Padierna is a great value hotel and I would recommend this place to anyone.

We spent 4 nights in Marbella and glad we chose to stay at The RC Villa padierna. It is not a perfect hotel but definitely beats the competition and is hidden away from the concrete monstruosites that the Costa del Sol has become:

PROS:

+ Beautiful property set in the middle of a gof course away from the hordes.
+ Gorgeous rooms. We were in a deluxe room in the main building overlooking a lake and with the sea in the distance. No balcony but inmy opinion better than the rooms in the annex.
+ Great pool surrounded by trees and nice poolside bar/restaurant.
+ Great looking spa( more about the spa treatments below).
+ Very nice food.

CONS:

+ Pool service is quasi inexistant. No one to give you towels, no complimentary water, no waiters to take orders, etc... A bit disappointing for a 5 star hotel and not in the same league as a Four Seasons property.

+ Don't mean to be elitist but the public is not that great. Lots of conventions and package tourists.

+ Service was fine and the majority of staff members were friendly but could be more pro active. Don't expect FS style pampering.

+ Disappointing ESPA treatments. They charge you for the use of the Spa facilities.

All in all we were pleased with our stay. For Spain this is a great hotel and makes a very good option for a relaxing weekend break.

We have stayed to Hotel Villa Padierna last February, and went to the restaurant La Veranda twice, because we enjoyed it so much the first night. The completely changed the Menu Degustación (8 courses) for us, since we had the menu the first time. The 2nd time was a complete surprise, we were treated like family and royalty at the same time. The food is out of this world.
This month we went back for one night, and took our daughter who doesn't live in Spain, with us.
She was in awe of the hotel and the wonderful dinner at La Veranda.

We will be back by the end of August to enjoy the lovely hotel and the exquisite dinner on the terrace of La Veranda :-)))

We stayed at Villa Padierna for 9 nights over Christmas and New Years. The hotel is in a great location to explore Andalucia, with easy access to both the toll highway or the freeway.

The service at the hotel was outstanding and the staff always had a smile on their face (one of the Bellmen insisted on driving us to midnight mass on Christmas Eve, and even found us a parking space near the church).

The concierge was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations for restaurants, day trips or just for hanging around. Both restaurants serve great food and the common space is very comfortable and nice to have tea or a glass of cava at any time. Breakfast was a feast and it was available until 11:00 am. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and sitting area and the bathroom was very large. The closet space is beautifully appointed with plenty of room for folded or hanging clothes. The spa was absolutely fabulous and we took advantage of it almost everyday. The hotel surrounds are well manicured, great for walks, golf. We hope to return in the future.

We (4 co-workers) stayed 4 nights in this hotel in october 2008. We booked over a German tour operator called EWTC witch had good prices and a good service. Distance from Malaga airport is approximately 75 kilometers. (45 minutes by car).
As we parked our car (having your own wheels is a must as the hotel is up in the hills) ourselves they were very confused and told us that they would take care of that. Valet service was prompt and friendly. There are 3 buildings and a theatre. The architecture is Italian (it looks like a villa in Tuscany) and a golfclub is annex.

Check-in was no problem, fast and efficient. The lobby is marvelous. You look up 3 floors and the marble floor is nice and well kept.
The resort is huge and there are just 110 rooms and suites, so there is always lots of space. The outside pool was very cold, but it is well kept and looks very nice. In the evening the resort is romantic with candles and so on.

Rooms are spacious, well kept, very clean and you hear no noise from others. Off course is a matter off taste; if you like antiques you def. are in the right hotel. I understood that all the antiques are genuine! Balcony was huge with 2 sunloungers, a table, a small sofa and 2 chairs.
Bathrooms spacious and a great shower. The bathtub fills in 3 minutes. Separate WC; nice towels.
I red the comment of a trip advisor talking about a strange smell in the room and yes I had the same experience. In fact a pullover that I did not wash after the trip has still that strange smell in it.
Housekeeping was good, service twice a day, clean towels twice a day. The fresh flower in the bathroom is a nice touch.

Service is nice and in accordance to the 5 star level. (Off course not everyone is always friendly and service minded but, overall service was great).

De Veranda restaurant is excellent. High quality and a fair price. (diner for 4 persons, wine and aperitifs includes 240 euro’s)
Breakfast was fine though the orange juice is not fresh.

The spa is beautiful but quiet overpriced. Service is good and attentive. I had a manicure and a pedicure (90 euro’s) and it was average.

All in all I surely would recommend this hotel to couples for a short romantic break.
