Just had 14 very restful days @Colina in a townhouse.
Facilities and furnishings excellent, comfort top notch,These houses were up to USA standards
New directional yellow and blue signage makes it very easy to find and previous reviwers comments have certainly been taken on board.English intructions for use of washing machine and Jacuzzi would be helpful.....
Toured around a lot and ate out at least once each day..without doubt Benahavis town excels with its restaurants and you will not go far wrong if you follow Trip Advisers top 6. Los Abinicos in our opinion was by far the best..We run a quality restaurant ourselves so we demand high standards in both food quality and service!!
We are already making plans to visit Colina again next September.
The noise issues previously mentioned were occasionally evident during our stay, but we put this down to the manner in which Spanish families speak..LOUD and fast rather than any faults in build quality of the houses.
The only thing that spoilt the overall holiday for us was the 2.5 hour wait in a line for our Hire Car @ Malaga airport (12noon Monday) along with approx 200 other disgruntled travellers CHAOS only to find that the car was not ready when we reached the front of the line...another 45 min wait do not use GOLDCAR!!! it took longer to get the car than the flight from the UK

Soon forgotten when we finally reached Colina

Room Tip: town house well worth the extra

Our holiday got off to a terrible start when during the flight I realised that I had left my driving licence at home.......
After an expensive taxi ride from Malaga we arrived at Colina Del Paraiso and all our troubles were put behind us.
We checked into a fabulous townhouse and were imediately struck by how well appointed it was and the cleanliness was excellent.
We dined at the restaurant and found the ambience, service & food were first class; a sign of things to come....
I eventually had my driving licence sent out to me, much to my regret, as I found the roads very stressful but that was probably my fault. You can walk to the local supermarket but it takes about 45 minutes, which is a bit of a hike when it is 38 deg C, so a car is recommended but not essential.
Throughout our stay the resort was kept immaculate. The accomodaton was serviced at times that did not affect you in any way.
We did not venture far as my 5 year old daughter fell in love with the pools and we spent most of our time on the complex.
We visited the bar every night (I am English!) and became friends with the staff, they are lovely. We ate there twice after the first night and the food was very good. The Sunday evening entertainment is worth a look; The Sax player is funny & the Spanish musicians are good.
All in all I would give Colina Del Paraiso 9/10. A few points to think about;
Clean the hot-tups between visits (ours had a lot of sand / plastic cover shards floating in it)
A step up into the hot tub should be provided; it's a bit of a climb and is slippery and awkward to get out of.
Recycling facilities should be provided on site for glass/cardboard/etc.
Bin liners & toilet rolls should be automatically replenished at such a high class resort.
Children's club is not available at advertised hours?
We lost BBC TV coverage during our stay; despite several enquiries (the Olympics was in progress) there was no feedback on progress in rectifying this.
These are mionor points and we would not hesitate to go back with James Villas. Our Daughter found lots of new friends and we met lots of lovely people. Thanks to all involved for a memorable holiday xxxx

The villas are very spacious and luxurious. A hire car is essential, as it is outside. In the vicinity are many activities. The pools are fine, but not very big. For young children there are not many activities. The complex is beautifully landscaped, it is not cheap. This also applies to the restaurant.

Room Tip: Rooms with higher numbers are better situated

Dear Edwin V,
Thank you for the positive review.
We very much cater for families and try to provide lots for children to do.
This is why I am a little surprised that you say there is little for young children to do. Why have...
A playground.
Children's paddling pool.
Kid Zone play area in the restaurant.
Children's entertainment two days and two nights a week.
Games rooms, golf range, pools, tennis & padel tennis for older children.
I would welcome any further ideas that you have for kid's activities.
Again, glad that you had a nice stay and hope to see you soon.
Warm Regards,
Regina Garrido

I've stayed in lots of apartments over the years but these were by far the best I've ever stayed in. Everything is top quality including beautiful marble bathrooms, excellent fitted kitchen and beautiful bedrooms with lots of storage. The restaurant is nice with lovely views but a bit expensive. The only real disappointment for us was that the town of Benahavis is about 15/20 mins drive away. This is a great town at night with lots of really good Restaurants and Bars. The hotel should consider running a shuttle bus in high season to the town at night. I would recommend a ground floor apartment near the 3rd pool.

Room Tip: I would recommend a ground floor apartment at the 3rd pool (i.e. that is the pool furthest from Reception)

Dear AFinlay_12,
Thank you very much for the lovely review.
Perhaps you took 'the long way round' as I would say Benahavis is 10-15 minutes drive at most.
Thank you for your suggestion regarding the shuttle bus. This is something that is under consideration.
We hope to welcome you again in the future.

Very nice property,in a very relaxing area of the Costa del Sol.
Overall the complex is taken well care of,with excellent staff at the reception.
However we had one downside to our vacation, the airconditioning broke while it was 35 Celsius outside, and as it couldn't be fixed right away we had to wait 4 days to be moved to a different appartment(we were offered a townhouse after 2 days, however with 2 small children it is a danger to stay in a townhouse as the stairs are not gated). We were given fans, however they were so noisy that we couldn't use them at night, and we had 4 nights with very bad sleep.
I tried to speak to the manager while I was there, however getting hold of her was impossible and I was given an appointment with her for the day that I left.I ended up writing an email to the head manager, who was very apologetic and asked me to give him my adress so he could send me a token of goodwill(I will keep you updated as to what it is when I receive it).
If not for that major glitch,I would say that it was a very nice vacation, and the days we did have a functioning airconditioning,we enjoyed very much at Colina del Paraiso.

Dear NiceRguy,
Thank you for posting a review of you stay with us.
I am happy to read that you for Colina Del Paraiso "Very nice property... well care of,with excellent staff at the reception."
I am really sorry that you experienced a problem with the air conditioning.
Marcos, our operations manager said that he offered to move you immediately (on Saturday) but you wished to wait for the a/c to be fixed. Understandably you did not want to move to a townhouse because of your young children. He then went and bought 4 fans to ease the heat.
It was unfortunate that the service man could not fix the problem as it was a larger technical issue. Marcos again checked in on you and you said that all was fine. When you came to see me on the last day of your stay I had gone home and you left at 7am the following morning.
I am very sorry to have missed you.
Please understand that we did everything within our power to ensure that you (as with all our guests) had a really great stay at Colina Del Paraiso.
We hope that you will return and I am sure that you will enjoy you next stay with us.
Warm Regards,
Regina Garrido
