Overall the meal was better than average but the service was poor. We waited almost an hour for the main course after finishing our first course. Our main complaint was the annoying waiter (owner?) who entertained in such an amateur fashion that it made one uncomfortable. Some may like this restaurant but we feel there are better.

Be prepared for a great amount of laughs and some really great food. The owner and his staff make you feel very welcome and the owner is a bit of a joker so be prepared to have some fun whilst you eat. We asked for recommendations on both food and wine and all selections were fantastic. They also have a wonderful selection of deserts. Another table of guests sang and played music which made for great entertainment. We did not get up there until after 10pm and were welcomed in with no problems. This is a fantastic place and I would have no problems recommending it or returning to it!

A very reliable place, with nice waiters, great food - especially meat, and good house wine. We have been visiting this place every year for 3 years and have never been disappointed.

Located in a pretty side street just off the main road in benahavis this restaurant has been a feature of this foodie town for many years.  However, due to its first floor location we only discovered it recently now that pushchair days are behind us.
L'escolera serves the typical Benahavis fayre of superb meats and traditional Spanish favourites, eaten here a few times now and never had a bad meal.  Steaks, lamb and suckling pig are delicious.  In winter the restaurant is lovely and cosy and in summer the outdoor terrace is very pleasant the upstairs location takes you away from the increasing hustle and bustle of the roadside restaurants.
A special note needs to be made of the owner Manolo, he is a real character and is constantly entertaining the kids with magic tricks and animal impressions.  I also must add these are not just party tricks I have no idea how he does it!  Manolo, mhis excellent staff and his wonderful food will have us coming back time and time again.  Bill for two adults two kids, dinks and a bottle of decent ribero was 100 euros.
