I can't recommend Casa Bliss highly enough. The owner was charming and very helpful. Casa Bliss itself was a bit of paradise - beautiful surroundings ,great pool and accomodation. The perfect place to chill in the heat of Andalucia. There was a lot to see locally and you can walk to the nearest restaurant.

This is the second time we have stayed at Casa Bliss.

The property is in the most perfect position if you want peace and tranquillity combined with stunning views from the vine - covered terrace. The location is ideal for exploring the surrounding area (car is essential) or just chilling by the fabulous large swimming pool.
The owner is on-site and always helpful without being intrusive.
We can certainly recommend this for a superb holiday.

My wife is a teacher so we always find it hard to get a great deal in the type of places we want to visit so finding this was a godsend. We had two weeks here, the apartment itself was excellent with a great outdoors eating area and about ten feet walk to a huge pool (which we had almost exclusively). All of this was amazing but the views from the pool and the villa are something else with views of the stunning surrounding country side and the sleepy town of Alora and the Moorish castle. The only sounds were horses braying and goats herded across the fields, a stunning site. The evenings couldnt be more perfect with amazing views of shooting stars and the castle. The family that own the place couldnt have been kinder or more helpful, giving us lifts to the supermarket and providing the best welcome pack I have ever encountered, its also a great base for touring being less than two hours from Granada, an hour at the most from Ronda and 40 minutes to the cost. I would definately say that it is two of the best weeks my wife and I have had away and although we don't usually go back to the same place this is somewhere we will revisit again and again.

We enjoyed a week's stay at Casa Bliss. It was fantastic - we were made to feel very welcome. Having been slightly put off by a few rogue reviews we were slightly apprehensive but neednt have been. The owner and her son were warm and hosted you like old friends whilst at the same time completely leaving you free to do as you want in peace and privacy. We had all sorts of places to visit on our agenda but rarely wanted to leave. Owing to having booked late we stayed in two of the three apartments and both were fantastic. The design and decoration of the rooms is original and shabby chic with much of the furniture being antique - it was so nice to stay somewhere that wasnt bland and sterile. The views are spectacular over Alora and the mountains and the pool is a dark turquoise - heavenly. Also worth visiting is the la conejitos restaurant 5km outside of alora - gorgeous food. Thanks for our great stay!

My wife and I stayed here from the end of July through to the beginning of August. We wanted to get away from it all to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, and this fits the bill perfectly.

The location is in the middle of olive groves, plenty of lemon, fig and a host of other trees line the hillside. There's a local goat-herder who moves his goats in the evening, a spectacular sight and the sound of the goats bells is strangely soothing.

Thank goodness for the air-conditioning, the temperatures were fantastic, well into the mid-40's. The rooms were quite basic but we enjoyed the open plan. The bathroom was the only separate room with a door. The hot water was very hot and lasted as much as we wanted. The kitchen was fairly basic, the microwave/grill being the only cooking appliance but there's a barbecue outside which we used a few times; fantastic.

The pool is huge. Twice as big as 'normal' and it was so very warm, possibly because of the dark tiles.
Blake (the owners son) cleaned the pool often but due to the wind blowing things around it was easy to lift leaves out of the pool with the net that's kept by the pool.

The other couples using the place at the same time as we were were extremely pleasant. We didn't really see much of anyone so don't worry about it being a 'shared' location, we loved the occasional chat with other people!!

We hardly ever saw the owner (Gaya) and her son (Blake) but when we did they were really pleasant and friendly. They keep a couple of small dogs which were not a problem, one of them was very friendly and we gave it the odd tickle when we saw it, but we only saw the dogs about 3 times during our entire stay - they are very unobtrusive and cute :)

A car is required for this location. The train station isn't within walking distance if you have baggage. There's a handy restaurant at the bottom of the hill (under a mile) but we wouldn't recommend walking back on the unlit and rough road at night.

Alora is beautiful. It is very Spanish, almost no tourists, but a lot of British people there with businesses etc. We got friendly with the owners of the Internet cafe opposite the Repsol garage, Tina and Gary, which is great, I recommend the sausage and egg sandwich for breakfast! They have a great restaurant in Alora which comes highly recommended, we ate there twice!

Take a car into the town centre at your own risk! :) Very narrow streets not designed for wide cars! Have a walk around if you like but leave the car on the outskirts.

The castle at the top of the hill is interesting, we managed to get a private tour but it is not open to the public at time of writing this. It is actually a cemetery. Apparently it has been vandalised over the years and when we were there they were restoring it.

Oh, and a quad tour is highly recommended, www.quadlandertreks.com, we did the "Hills have eyes" tour which goes up the mountains and down to the El-Chorro lakes. It is very easy and families and those not confident on a quad will not have any problems, it is very safe and Susan (the owner) knows what she's doing!

Thanks for looking.

Casa Bliss is one of the most peaceful, beautiful place that I have ever stayed in, and I have traveled all over the world. If you want to get away from the stresses of work etc, then this is the place to go. We were met by a very warm owner, who made us feel relaxed and was very helpful. We stayed in Bluebell Cottage, which was very comfortable, spacious and very private. It was very clean and beautifully decorated. We had our own patio and bbq. It was so romantic , my partner and I loved the time we had together. It was so peaceful as there are no children and we thoroughly enjoyed the quietness . The views are spectacular. The pool was magnificent . This is the perfect retreat and we have already booked for next year.

Casa Bliss lived up to our expectations as a place where we can completely Chill-out. The location is tranquil and the views superb, with the main event of the day being the return of the goat herds for milking. The terraces are ideal for relaxing on the comfortable cane patio furniture, under the shade of grape vines, when the sun got too much. The pool is excellent, large enough for those who love to swim and comfortable for those who just who just want to cool off after a hot sunbathing session. The surroundings are lovely with exquisite views of the surrounding countryside.

The owners live on site but are not at all obtrusive, however they are available to ensure a pleasant stay and are more than happy to help, even with picking up some groceries for you when they are at the local shops.

It is a country location so a car is essential, if only to get to the supermarket, as in our case.
