“Lovely little guesthouse with friendly owner”
Reviewed July 28, 2012

Great place to stay in Bran especially if you have kids thanks to the large garden full of slides and toys, not to mention a great view of Bran castle. Easy walking distance to town centre and castle. Spacious and very clean room. Triple with extra bed was more than adequate for 4 of us. No air-con.

Made to feel very welcome by Jo who is happy to chat or help you with information. Romanian breakfast is very huge and very fresh, or toast, cereal and omelettes are available if that doesn't take your fancy. Also had a lovely home cooked meal one night at the guesthouse.

One of the more expensive town centres for food and drink due to the huge amount of tourists. The Gallery restaurant does good food, but others are very samey. Bran castle gets really busy with day trippers. Check out the caves near Rasnov fortress for a cool experience.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Guesthouse for a stay in Bran.

Room Tip: Top floor triple was very spacious.

The location is perfect if you are traveling with children because it has a big yard with lots of toys. The vila is modern, cleanand cozy, the breakfast is very good and the staff are great. Come here if you are going to Bran.

My husband and I drove to Bran and spent just one night at the Guest House. We really were impressed with the cleanliness of our room and loved having a view from our room of the Castle all lit up at night. Ioana is amazing and she made us feel so welcome. She and her staff provided a wonderful breakfast and conversation. We were able to keep our car parked there and walk to the Castle since it is so close. She even gave us a cup of coffee before we had to leave! The entire house is well kept/up-to-date and for the price you just can't be beat it! We loved every minute we had there and wish we had more time.

Room Tip: Ask for any room with a view of the Castle if possible!

As I write, I am sitting in the shade of the balcony, after a magnificent breakfast of free-range eggs from the family farm, bread, butter and jam/honey, hot coffee, and a plate of meats/cheeses and fresh salads. The room was spotless, spacious and the shower was hot. Just for fun, the bedsheet is blood red, and the lampshades too. I woke to the cock-a-doodle-do of the local cock, and looked out on the wonderful scenery, breathing the Fresh Bran air, and just felt exhilarated. This sets a new standard for B&B catering, and sits you right in the heart of the Central Romanian mountains. Thank you Trip Advisor, once again!

BTW, if you have children, this is the place, for outside there is a huge garden, with playground and trampoline. I am tempted to have a go myself!!!

We spent 3 great days in Bran, at the Guesthouse and had a fantastic time.
The courtyard is just great for kids. We have 2 dauthers (7 and 2) and they had a wonderful time. Ioana and John are lovely hosts and John is quite a talker :-) They will make you very much welcomed!
They even let our friend stay with us although our friends were accomodated in a different villa in Bran and that was just great, as the kids got to play toghether.

Enjoy you stay!

Room Tip: nr 3 is the best!

I cannot sing the praises of the guesthouse or the owners enough to really do them justice. It was my first visit to Romania and the rooms and facilities were first class, they had thought of everything and it was a real home from home of immaculate and excellent quality. Our room was fantastic with views of Bran castle and the mountains, what a way to wake up! The food was outstanding with seasonal and home made produce and all tastes were catered for, we loved it all. We were in a group of 9 and John and Ioana could not do enough to accommodate our needs. Between them they are an awesome team with outstanding local knowledge, John is a walking tour guide - fascinating stuff! This couple and their family have amazing hearts, not only for those who visit the guesthouse but also for their local community, particularly those in need. The Guesthouse, Bran is a very special place to be run by very special people, we so hope to return soon.

Room Tip: The room with views of Bran castle is awesome!

I can't say enough about how amazing the staff are at this place. A big group of us arrived one afternoon, filthy from hiking in the Bucegi mountains, and only some of us had reservations. None of us spoke any Romanian, but that was no problem, as the place is owned by a British man and his Romanian wife. John, the co-owner, was incredibly warm and helpful: he made room for all of us on no notice, gave us recommendations for seeing Bran, bent over backwards to help us do laundry, called cabs for us, and even gave us their cell phone number in case we ran into any trouble as we hiked.

When we asked about the Romanian shepherds we had seen on the hiking trails, they gave us a nice overview of their trade and even broke out some delicious sheep's cheese that they were saving for Christmas! When it came up that I have Celiac disease and can't have wheat, John (who has wheat intolerance), was full of helpful recommendations for eating in a country whose staple is bread.

The facilities are also very nice: immaculate rooms with big windows, balcony at the end of the hall with a great view of the castle, nice breakfast area and living room for common use, and a largish, grassy yard with playground equipment and a wading pool for kids. This is a family-run establishment (they have a 9-year-old son and other family that live on the property), so it would be a great place for families to stay. It's a 5-min walk to the castle and all of the other attractions, but set back from the street so it's quiet. We hope to go back someday!
