“The Gem of Manassas”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Don't let the unassuming outside of the restaurant dissuade you. When you step in and are greeted by Gabby or Lauren, you know you've come to a special place. The menu is varied yet each dish is superbly prepared. This is the only restaurant where we order the steak! Fantastic! Great wine list. Good entertainment on the week-ends. Just simply the best!

“Average Restaurant with Average Service”
Reviewed January 29, 2014

The service is average even during early/nonpeak hours. The wait staff appears to be over worked/short staffed.

Recently had dinner and had the following:

Bread with flavored olive oils are provided to each table.

Wild mushroom and fresh mozzarella bruschetta. Good crunchy bread with finely chopped topping. Average and flavorless.

Fettuccini Alfredo Primavera with Chicken. Sauce was thin and had very little flavor. Chicken was tender.

Tricolore Tortellini with pepper, onions, mushrooms, and pancetta in pink sauce. Average pasta with decent sauce.

Parking is not an issue as the lot is good size. We will not return as the food is average and nothing more special than chain Italian restaurants in the nearby area.

Price was $55.00 without tip

“Great meal, music, and service!”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

We had a great meal this time around. We decided to come here for our anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. We both chose a couple glasses of red wine and started out with the lobster bisque with sherry, one of the best. They brought the focaccia bread with dipping oils, so good. My wife ordered the lamb chops and I ordered the eggplant carmela. Both were great! Music provided by three guys playing jazzy bluesy dinner music, not too loud. For dessert we had homemade pumpkin cheesecake and a chocolate cake, both delicious! The downside was the lamb chops were overcooked, but they cooked my wife another set to perfection! The owner came by to ensure everything was good.

The food was very good, the sweet and spicy shrimp was delicious. The portions were very generous and the service was just right.

“Just ok - expected more”
Reviewed December 1, 2013 via mobile

Based on the other reviews we stopped in on Black Friday for an early dinner. Service was incredibly slow and we were the only ones there. The bread was delicious as were the two types of dipping oil. Our main courses were a mixed bag. The pork shank was good but the Italian half chicken was way too salty. The portions were large but it didn't make up for the taste. As for an Italian restaurant at the price level, there are definitely better ones with 15 to 20 minutes of Gunnis. This is one restaurant I really wanted to like being close to home. Based on the menu we saw that night and the prices, it's not worth a second try for dinner.
