On the 22-29th may me my daughter and grandson went to this hotel.... Don't listen to everyone on here we didn't pay much and to be honest you get what you paid for.. The staff was great, food was good , snacks was ok drinks as much as you want on all inclusive could even have ice cream / lollies for the kids... The only thing I would say is that the lunch time food seemed to be better than the evening food a lot more for the kids to eat... But you can order if you like chips and other children's meals if done in the morning . We only found this out the last day.. Did ask for a packed Lunch but it was done the night before so soggy better to do your own at breakfast time.food all in all very good... Accommodation was good needs up dating but was clean .. Maids came every other day changed sheets and cleaned all in all very happy with the holiday and the stay at Santa maria would defo go back....
The only thing I would defiantly say DO NOT GO TO THE CHINESE NEXT DOOR NEW CHINA KINGDOM. On our last night we thought we would go for Chinese ordered meal first they brought me and my daughters food out then about 10 mins later brought a friends out then we had to wait another 20 mins for the kids to get feed and to top it all off they forgot my grandson ,on saying to them we came out for a meal to eat altogether and waiting for a hour and a half to get the food I asked them to take off the drinks only £€5.00 they said no not our fault we only got one chef ... Paid bill on leaving heard someone else say when will our son get his meal again they forgot someone... On the plus side here is a code that gives you free wifi 21582035 it is there phone number I stood outside and used it to Skype my hubby so got something free off them lol

Nice resort but let down by the remote location where it is tucked away in a residential area. Don't get me wrong, as the rooms are clean and tidy with very good catering if you are on full board. The pool is small to medium compared to the other hotels.
The reception staff are very nice and efficient and speak good English.
Transport to Valletta is 10 minutes walk and the bus shows up every 30 minutes.
No A/C in in the rooms of this hotel resort.
You can get a room with a frig if you ask.

Room Tip: The higher the room the better as it can get noisy around midnight. Get a room facing southward as t...

My husband and I have just returned from this hotel....Yes we didn't pay 4 0r 5 star money but their are still standards. We were given a room on the ground floor looking out onto the road the balcony hadn't been swept since I don't know when it was filthy. Only when I went to charge my phone discovered no points working in the room at all, this was reported but never got fixed, this meant the hairdyer ,camera and e book I took couldn't be charged and the television couldn't be watched and no phone in the room as stated. The night time entertainment advertised was disgusting... kiddies disco no atomosphere and they only played 4 songs for them....oh then it was bingo for anyone interested 1 game which took about 20 mins. Next it was a quiz or a bit karaoke....seen better in the holidays camps in the 60's. The hotel is in a terrible area more like Beirut, no decent bars or restaurants nearby. Anyone with mobility should not go here as there is nothing in the area. The food ok for what we paid you couldn't grumble you could always find something to eat.. Room was only cleaned once when we were there beds not changed at all beds weren't even the same size one was 9 inches higher than the other. The best staff were those in the dining room and star of the week for us was the young man working on the pool area he never stopped and was always polite. Would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. First time in Malta and would not go back.

Room Tip: Don't go.

we been there 7 nights all inclusive, in reception we had information that room will be cleaned up every 4 days. After cleaned up the bathroom was still dirty(bath, sink, floor, mirror and toilet), towels and bedding not changed. I told about this to manager but his was not surprised. Terrible food(f.e:1 jam on breakfast, every 2day the same meals, not meals for children, fruits:apple, mandarin, watermelon). we ordered "campari" and had pay for it. Last day was terrible because we didn't had information about check out, and after 12pm woman from reception told for as that we should pay for room because check out was to 11am. we didn't had information from website:sunmaster and from hotel. We paid 23pounds for 7 hours without meals. Malta is lovely country but please- do not go to HOTEL- SANTA MARIA AND SAN ANTON! People every time complained about dirty rooms, bathrooms, everything is old.

we recently went to this hotel for 2 weeks stay and we really enjoyed it.
we were quite surprised to find there was NO wifi at this hotel so it cost us a small fortune ringing home to family while we were there.
It would make a difference for the hotel guests to have access even if it is in the public area only ...other than that enjoyed the stay

There is a culture and cuisine unique to malta. It really is a marmite scenario. The question is 'Do you like the Maltese' and I did. This hotel is set upon the back streets of Bugibba. Rows upon rows of flats with the occasional bar/hotel here and there...

I went B&B to get out there and see what Malta had to offer. Discovered hobs-biz-zejt. and other dishes besides. In the hotel the evening meal was meat/fish and two veg and flavours unique to Malta. Don't go all inc. in this Hotel you will be stuck in the middle of nowhere and go nowhere after dinner. (because if you take less work you can offer a better service for the same or even more money...

You must see the sunset at the top of Bugibba Bay. Turn right at the front of the Santa Maria Hotel, then a jagged straight with the 'Little by Little' takeaway - shut on your left hand side and walk straight down to the front...

You must see Valletta and the Cordina Cafe with menu to suit every pallette and pocket; Gozo; Medina and the Fontenella Tea Rooms with the panaramic views; and when you go on the boat trips please do not stray from the party...

There are traffickers all around you in Bugibba please keep your wits about you. When you give into the pressure to 'serve' you are koshed and kidnapped. Fabs Food and wine is one and the Jesters Kebab house, both on the opposite side of the block is another both push Sharma Cruises, now they will change their name so avoid the little white boat. And Maltese Mick from London.

This holiday was extremely cheap so we expected basic but clean. Initially we were given Room 183N - broken floor tiles in the bathroom, mirror hanging off wall, shower hanging off, mould and mildew round the bath, toilet handle covered in mould, gaffer tape around the cistern and all covered in mildew or mould and it didn't flush, fan over the bed looked like it could detach from the ceiling if used, one drawer had no bottom. 2nd room not a lot better. The third room we had to accept but it still had rust patches in the bath and mould round it and wasn't paricularly clean.

Clean towels were supposed to be supplied every other day when room cleaned, I had to chase cleaner on 4th day to get our room done and clean towels/

Nice balcony but rails were broken - dangerous for children.

Adults roof terrace - steps to this were covered in bits of brick and plaster but it wasn't cordoned off.

Got stuck in the lift and when we pressed the alarm the receptionist didn't believe us and it was a guest who went to get help for us. That same lift was out of action for 3 or 4 days.

Food could be taken or left - on the whole because the holiday was cheap we decided to leave.

Staff tried but they didn't seem to have the tools or training to do the job properly. Management was non-existent as far as we could see.

We did find out from the locals that the Santa Maria and its sister hotel San Anton had been closed for 6 years. San Anton refurbished last year but the Santa Maria had a lick of paint, new curtains, mattresses and bedspreads only.
