Reviewed July 4, 2013

we found the hotel to be very clean rooms cleaned every day. the staff are very helpful and friendly the food was superb with loads of choice and we will be going back next year.the coral is perfect for couples but not for families with young children although there is no entertainment in the hotel there is loads in bugibba square which is only a few minutes stroll away

Room Tip: rooms at the back are cooler and quieter but with no view

Described as a Boutique hotel, we were not disappointed as we didn't have particularly high expectations in the first place. It is compact, it has also seen better days and is rather tired, but not dirty. The staff were friendly but tented to be jack-of-all-trades. The food was adequate, but the selection was pretty much the same the whole week. We never problems getting a seat for either breakfast or dinner. The rooms were okay, the only issues were; the air con worked intermittently and when it did work it wasn't great, The bed bases were covered in chip board and my wife and I constantly scratched our legs on it. The phone's didn't work either, apparently the management needed to "buy a card". Would I go back? Probably not, I didn't hate the place but I would like to find something a little better next time.

Hotel dirty, food terrible, you have to pay for the fridge, remote control. And anything you ask for. If you book here expect to have your holiday spoilt. The swimming pool is more like a children's paddling pool. If you book via sunmater you are making a big mistake. Look at reviews before making any bookings. It pays to go by a travel agent a little extra cost but at least you can get through to someone when things are not according to plan. You have been warned. By the way the one and only lift only holds two people at once.

My wife and I had booked a months stay at the Canifor hotel , apartment and bed and breakfast basis.
On the day that we arrived in Malta there was a torrential downpour of rain. So much so that our apartment was flooded!!!!
The Canifor reception staff, Jessica, offered us a room in the Coral Hotel, one of their group hotels. They said that they would upgrade us to half board at no extra cost.

We accepted the offer and were relocated into the coral on the fifth floor, with the balcony overlooking Bugibba.

We found out that the hotel didn't use their kitchens for cooking the food, but it was cooked in the Canifor Hotel and then mini bussed to the Coral. ( Francis , the chef, at the Coral was friendly and very good at liaising with the customers).

We booked with a local travel agency whom won't use again. The hotel was extremely basic, but clean enough. Hotel needs a complete overhaul. However, the staff more than made up for much of the faults. They were polite, courteous and extremely helpful and friendly. Food was appalling, both breakfast and dinner. A friend was staying in another hotel close by which was beautiful and she paid about £80 less than I did.
