We ate in the whole hog during our stay in Malta, it's directly across the road from the hotel. The food was delicious! We had the roast chicken dinner and myself and sister in law don't like mash potatoes and we asked could we have chips instead and it was no problem. So happy and helpful, the waitress spoke to us as if she knew us our whole life's. I would recommend the special milk shakes! We tried to eat there again but unfortunately we left it too late and couldn't get a table but there was 10 of us! So friendly and food was delicious.

Nicole!

What a lovely review of the "Hog" and our food and service.

We're so happy you enjoyed the Roast and so sorry we couldn't accommodate you on the Sunday evening.

Again because of the nature of the food being slow roasted and cooked (the gravy alone takes an hour and a half to make) we do run out of food towards the end of service on a Sunday evening (even though I cook more every week)

For Sundays we would always recommend you book early and if possible let us know what dishes your party would like.

We would always say come along any other evening ( closed Mondays ) as we cook the same delicious roast every night, (served from 6.30) and remember "a roast is not just for Sunday" :) that way you can enjoy the carvery any evening.

It was great meeting you and we do hope you visit us and beautiful malta again for your "chippy" roasts ;) x

Best wishes Jay and Mary xx

I live in Malta and I have coeliacs and lactose intolerance this was no problem to the chef I was treated to a Sunday lunch which was awesome , everything was fresh and cooked to perfection, I was also told that if I needed to bring in any foods for my dietary needs then this would never be a problem. Thank you guys for giving me somewhere to eat out and know I'm safe to eat there.

Dear Sue

Thankyou for your lovely review, it was fab meeting you guys!

We do our best meeting dietary needs and will try to make what we can for any requests we have. We appreciate it's difficult sometimes to find places that cater for people who have a condition or intolerance to certain foods and although there's nothing on the menu specifically we will do our best when asked.

Looking forwards to seeing you again Jay, Mary and David xxx

Stopped here for a sunday lunch our first full day in Malta. Had read about it on here prior to departing. Can safely say that it deserves it's plaudits. Huge portions of sunday roast, nice and tender, and the staff was absolutely lovely. My only regret is that I didn't elect the pork roast like my girlfriend did, as it was even better than my roast chicken! :)

Eating a roast in 30+ degrees is probably certifiable in it self, but it was worth it!

Hey Kyrre

Thanks for a super review about our evening roast dinners! Remember a roast is not just for Sunday :)

It is a plateful but a delicious mixed plate and still my favourite meal!

Pork or chicken that is the question some like one some the other, I'm a pork man myself whereas Mary loves a bit of Chicken.

So happy you braved a roast on one of the hottest weeks of the year!

Hope to see you again soon guys all the best Jay and Mary.

My brother recommended this place to me. He's been there once and had a great lunch with chicken, great masehd potatoes, sausage in a bacon roll and vegetables. So when I came to visit he really wanted me to try it ! Unfortunately they were only doing this kind of plate on evenings or on sunday, so instead we enjoyed a great sandwich with chicken, caramelized onions and cranberry sauce. The sandwich was really big, not dry at all, and really really good. Then we spotted on the menu a dessert called "death by chocolate" and really had to try it. Well the name really suits the cake they served ! It was a giant piece of a three layers chocolate cake with chocolate ganache between each layers plus on top of it and vanilla ice cream on the side. We struggled a bit to finish it but it was so good we couln't leave any of it.
And all that for less than 10€ per person.
On top of it the owner is lovely, the place is in a quiet street and the muic is great.
I would highly recommend it !

Dear Juliebee!

Thanks for such a lovely review and coming to see us on your brothers recommendation.

It's great when families and friends share the news about us especially as we've been open for such a shirt time.

Really pleased you loved the sandwiches and really sorry we only serve the roast meals on an evening but with 6 sandwiches to choose from and our new addition of bangers and mash and the big breakfast sandwich there was hopefully enough choice for you.

Value for money is very important as well and we were very happy to hear that you found our food and drinks reasonably priced.

Please try and call again if you can and if it's daytime call first and I'll see what I can do about a roast dinner for you. ;)

Thanks once again and kindest regards to you and your family, Jay and Mary.

Nice food, nice waitress but to receive the food was just taking a little too much time. The suggested wine was really good.

Hey wonderor

So glad everything was ok for you and that you enjoyed the food the wine and the waitress.

There can of course be a little wait for food sometimes but rarely more than in most restaurants and the average time would not exceed 20- 30 minutes but this depends on how busy we are.

Also as the food is freshly prepared for service we certainly can't be classed as a fast food outlet.

We hope you will wonder by again anytime and again thank you for enjoying your time with us.

Kindest regards Jay and Mary.
