“Value for Money”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

We had a week's all inclusive at the end of October. We (2 adults and a teenager) found the hotel to be clean and quiet. If you are looking for pie and chips, and want to get drunk while the kids cause havoc, then this is not the place for you. We believe a holiday is what you make of it and we had a good time, but feel that this hotel is more suitable for older people. There was a good choice of food, but maltese rather than english (one night of the week was maltese menu only, ) and not a lot of traditional english kids food. Chips were every other night, although there was pasta every night. The soups sounded a bit off-putting, such as cabbage and bacon, but were actually delicious, so give them a try.
The rooms were very clean. We were in 311 A and B, a 2 bed apartment as we booked an extra room for our teenager. It was at the front of the hotel, was enormous. It had 2 bathrooms and a lounge with a full size fridge. It was a bit noisy in the morning, but it is not a main road so just local traffic and coaches. The rooms were cleaned daily and the beds changed once during the week that we stayed.
Ask at Reception for the shortcut to Buggiba bus terminal. Its about a 10 min walk and you can get a bus to most places from here. The tour buses are good value. For 15 euros each, you get a 3 hour tour of the north or south of the island and a free boat tour of 1 and a half hours is included.
The hotel has aspects of being a 4 star, such as requesting long trousers be worn in the restaurant at night, and waiter service for evening drinks in the restaurant, but on the whole is more 3 to 3 and a half stars.
The evening entertainment is basic but good (Elvis lives!) There are 3 bars, but from Nov 1st the roof bar is closed, which is a bit of a pain. Also as the roof bar is the afternoon snack bar, after 1st Nov if you miss lunch the only snack available is a pre-packed sandwich. If you order a takout lunch you get 2 sandwiches, 1 bottle of water and 1 apple.
The hotel decor makes it look dark, but we enjoyed our stay and would go again.

This Hotel's biggest flaw is that it is in the wrong place.. If your walking isn't great I would say think twice before going..Malta is hilly, and its easier to walk on the road than the pavement, as they are very uneven. Its a good 10 to 15 mins walk to the bus station, or the seafront. Down or uphill whichever way you are going. There ia a bus passes the hotel one way, every hour, but I'm told not for much longer. The hotel itself is very nice and spotlessly clean, but I found it dark, being in a built up area. It is a selfservice restaurant, and with plenty of choice, and there is a singer in the bar at night, and a piano player twice a week in the lounge, this has about 14 seats so not many can stay here..My holiday ended sadly with my shuttle not turning up at 5.30am for my 8.30 flight, and I had to pay 25 euros for a taxi, so am now trying to get that back, plus the 12 euros I paid for the shuttle. My rep Joseph assured me it would be there, but didn't answer his phone when it didn't....

Room Tip: I was on the ground floor, and think the higher rooms might be quieter, as I could here some noise d...

Returned 2nd November after weeks all inclusive. The hotel is a little dated and as such probably less than the four star claimed. but is immaculately clean throughout and the staff keep it that way all day. The food was very good plenty of choice and snacks available all day. The staff, despite some reviews; were all pleasant and attentive (perhaps it depends on being the same oneself) the location is back from the seafront and has an uphill approach which older/infirm guests may find challenging. I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel and will certainly return in the future

I was in the hotel from 20th October to 27th October. Food offers a lot of choice, soup, salads and various meats, fish and pasta and vegetarian.
The rooms are a different story I was in room 112, it was dated, not very clean, as in the bathroom had mould and was very very dark.
Be sure if you go there to ask for room 426 or 321 as they obviously have been refurbished and are clean and bright. Do not settle for less
Hotel staff,,, well reception not at all nice!. The bar staff, not being ageist, the young men and women are a delight the older ones are grumpy to say the least.
I would not recommend this hotel for a lot of reasons and this is the first time I have commented on a trip because I was so disappointed..

Room Tip: Do not get a room at the front. Buses come and go all times of the day and night. Look at your room...

I stayed for a week with a bunch of friends. We were missing one bed in one of the rooms due to a foul up by the travel agent. The hotel staff did their best to sort it out and uprated us to a suite from a family room to compensate us. The hotel is maybe a little tired but not bad and everywhere was kept very clean especially the rooms. The staff were polite and friendly and all speak excellent English. The food is a self service buffet which I would describe as perfectly serviceable, though dinner finishes at 20:45 so dont hang about in the shower too long. There was some form of entertainment on each night which some younger people might think a bit cheesy but for the average guest at this hotel was fine. It is not a 4 star by modern British standards but then it didnt cost 4 star money. If you want somewhere decent to flop and eat then the Soreda will do the job.

Just back from a week AI and what a week it was. The food was outstanding- a different carvery each evening plus two meat dishes,a fish dish, pasta with varying sauces and more combinations of salad than I can remember. Also a different soup each night made from local vegetables. The locals go every Sunday- you can't say fairer than that. The rooms were very spacious, with twin beds two chairs and a table aswell as the dressing table - we were a group on 13 in rooms 335 onwards. However we were overlooked but when you see how close together buildings are in Malta, it;s a mere hitch. Entertainment was excellent and varied which is unusual at this time of year and appealled to all ages. There were a good selection of drinks on offer although the AI was only local beers and spirits. The hotel is in a side street but within 5 minutes walk of the main road and sea front and if you enjoy a stroll along the coast, within half an hour you are in the bustling town of Bugibba.
Highly recommended to all ages with 3 pools, a games room, internet cafe, 3 bars, TV lounge and very pleasant staff

Just returned from a weeks all inclusive and don't have a bad word to say about the hotel. I was apprehensive prior to going due to some of the reviews on here, but needn't have worried. Ok, so the hotel is a little tired in places and could do with some updating but overall it was clean and tidy. The bedrooms are fine, cleaned every day with fresh towels provided, although my parents did have one of those rooms whose balconies all overlook one another, but how long do you spend on a balcony? The food at all mealtimes was the best all inclusive food I have had, lots of choice everyday, food was kept hot and the plates were hot too. Soft drinks are branded and the local wine and beer was totally drinkable. People have complained on here about the attitude of staff but we found them all to be very friendly and poilte, especially Sharon the the restaurant manager, and they all work so hard. Having spoken to several people at the hotel I find that many of them have been coming to the Soreda for many years including one couple who have been coming twice a year for 18 years! We had no trouble getting sunbeds up on the roof terrace, though space might be an issue in the summer months, but there's so much to see and do in Malta you don't want to spend all your time sunbathing. We hired a car from a place in Qawra - next to the Qawra Palace Hotel - and it was only 50 euros for 3 days, great value and a good way to see the island, and do go on the local buses as they are so cheap, 2.60 euros day return to Valletta. Overall we had a great time at the Soreda and will definately be booking for next year.
