My daughter stayed here with a school group and had a lovely time. On leaving, she left behind a treasured teddy. I contacted the hotel and Simon could not have been more kind and helpful. He insisted on returning the item (and another couple of things they found of hers) and would not accept any repayment of the postage charges. Communicating with them was a delight and they were extremely proactive and prompt. Thank you very much!!

We stayed here for four nights until 9 April. We chose this hotel based on other peoples reviews and because we were looking for a cheap short break. The room was ok and quite large, if a bit tired looking. Like the previous reviewer, we also had large groups of students staying who were quite noisy but they didn't bother us too much. I can't agree with some of the other reviews which say that the food was amazing - I found the qualify of the breakfast in particular was quite poor with very little variety. The dinners were ok, three choices of hot dish but just one type of vegetable, and potato or a very small salad bar to go with it. There was just one dessert each night or one type of fruit or two types of cheese and crackers. You wouldn't want to eat there for seven nights and we went out on our last night. I have to say though that the staff were all very friendly and attentive.
Something to be aware of if you are planning to visit this year is that as we were leaving scaffolding was going up round the building across the road (which you can see in some of the photo's). It is very close to the hotel and overlooks the pool. We were told that the building is being demolished and a new hotel built on the site and is likely to take several months just to take the old building down. You could probably use the rooftop area, which also has a small covered pool while this work is going on.
Overall, for someone who is looking for a cheap hotel to use as a base then this wouldn't be a bad choice.

Room Tip: Third floor or above gives the best view of the sea.

Just arrived back from this hotel April 2 for 5 nights we went to Malta to watch the Tour TA Malta we picked this hotel of the price there was a great welcome from Simon and his staff food was good rooms very clean and spacious if you needed anything you just had to ask the only problem we had was the noise from about 30 French students which they started to party from 11 o'clock till they we told to be quiet by a number of guests which was 3.30 in the morning there teachers could not control them . But Simon you have a good hotel thanks for your hospitality

Quite simply, this hotel goes above and beyond. We had a cheap bargain break and checked reviews before we went, this hotel seemed to be given a seal of approval - wow - it is brilliant. The staff are so lovely and can't do enough to help. The room is spacious and clean with sufficient drawer and wardrobe space, also a seating area and a nicely appointed bathroom. The balcony was a little small but perfectly adequate. There are sufficient power points and they don't even require an adapter - wonderful.

If you stay at the Il Palazzin (or even if you don't stay), you MUST have at least one buffet - the food is incredible. They have some truly talented chefs. Breakfast is equally good, an amazing spread of everything that could be wished for be it cereal, cold meats and cheeses, hot food, fruit. The staff regularly come out to remove anything that has been out for a certain amount of time, dispose of it and replace it with fresh.

This is perfectly situated too, it is a short walk into Bugiba or down to the sea front. We really can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Just to round things off, when we asked at reception about arranging for our transfer to the airport, we were taken straight to see the manager who greeted us with a beaming smile, made an immediate phone call and sorted everything out - absolutely superb. We liked this hotel so much that we are already booked to return having sought it out in particular. This hotel goes far above and beyond its 4* rating. Be assured of a wonderful stay.

Stayed at this hotel for 7 nights during mid July, it is a good hotel with great staff!
My partner and I visited Malta to travel so we didn't spend much time in the hotel, however if you would have liked to there is a small sized pool and a large roof top area you could use for relaxing/ sunbathing. There was no spa available and the fitness area consisted of only one or two apparatus, which was not any worry for us!

The room was average with a typical holiday feel, bright curtains etc, the bathroom was very clean with a shower/ bath, and there was lots of storage space with chest of draws and wardrobe. Extra sheets were provided but not needed during summer as it's still very warm during the night. Room also had air-con. It was no fault of the hotel but we did receive a twin room after our booking went wrong, and we just pushed the beds together without any hassle.

Food was good, with a buffet style breakfast, which suited us as we were out just after 9am each morning! Set dinner menus were also available at €15 per person which is not bad, however we never used the service as we we're out most nights, but they did serve quite late.

The main perks for us was that it was roughly a 15/ 20 walk to the main bus terminal in Bugibba and a 5 minute walk to the bay and main road. Arriva buses were regular, but check before traveling!

Main downfalls (but not extreme):
- Took a long time for the hotel to prepare the room, approximately an hour after arriving (1-2pm).
- Pools are not large at the hotel (indoor and outdoor), however this depends on whether you like using them, we only used the pool once.
- No spa or fitness facilities, was not fussed by this at all.
- Balconies are very close to each other and you can easily climb onto another. (However, no safety problems arose and a safe is available).

Main perks:
- Breakfast was varied buffet ending at 9.30am.
- 10 minute walk to bay and newsagents for food etc. Roughly 15 minute walk to lively areas with many restaurants and shops.
- Good bus service (€13 for weekday bus pass (you can travel until 12 or 2am using this).
- Shared cabs are cheap too (€2.50) but a large group of people (12-15) need to share and be traveling in the same direction.
- Roughly 30/ 40 minutes from the Airport by coach.

------------------------------------ Holiday ------------------------------------------

Malta is a friendly and vibrant island! It was an amazing holiday I will never forget!
It's also really easy to visit many places, it takes roughly 1 hour and a half to get from the northwest to southeast. In one week we managed to fit it all in and there was loads of walking and short bus trips involved!!
- Ghajn Tuffieha Bay (Golden bay) is the best beach!
- St Julian's has a clubbing strip best for nightlife!
- Be sure to visit Valletta, the beautiful and traditional capital!
- Sliema is more modern area with a large shopping mall (The Point).
- Mdina, Marsaxlokk (market), Mellieha bay, St Pauls Bay, & many of the stone temples proved to be great visits!

I would also recommend visiting the Blue Lagoon (Comino) and traveling through Gozo!
Ferries cost €5-10 for a return! For Gozo I would suggest using the tour bus as public transport is not as regular! The Azure window was the highlight of Gozo!

Stayed in the II Palazzin Hotel for 10 nights between August and September 2013. My wife and I had a really good holiday in Malta. The Hotel was very friendly and can not fault any of the staff one bit. We both thought that the food was excellent with a varied choice every night. The rooms were very clean and tidy. However, there was no tea/coffee making facilities in room. But this seems the norm for Malta. (From what other tourists told us when out and about). Only used the out side pool, yes, it did go in the shade in the afternoon, but that could be due to time of year.
Location wise for us it was very good. We used buses every day. An all day ticket used on all buses 2.60 euros a day. However, they did get very full at times and the contract was due to change next year. Locals hated new company. The Hotel is very quiet off the "main drag" but within 10 minutes walking you can hit the many varied bars and small beaches. Do not expect an hotel full of Brits or Germans. Simon likes to have varied nationalities staying at any one time. Watch out for touts. Its not "Time share" its now "Holiday clubs" we got sucked in on the first day. Overall very pleased.

Stayed here for 10 days from 11-9-13.Have very little to add to the reviews allready on TA , eg freindly and efficent staff . The people for instance who do the cleaning show total dedication. The food was very good fresh and varied. However we did meet some people who thought it was poor ? Which was complete nonsense . It saved us a great deal of money .My partner and me only had one evening meal outside hotel. As for location it is well placed to travel to the rest of the island including GOZO
. However Qawra itself as a little to much concrete and not enough greenery. That said the local bars are the cheapest we found on the island . Or any holiday in many years. The local beer is good. Bottle beer better than draught. If you drink shorts with mixers be wary, in a couple of bars they were very very long on mixer and very short on short. But the majority of the bars are the opposite. They say you either love Malta or hate it we loved it.
