it's a really nice homey hotel , a very good location , oversees the sea & the green mountain , the rooms on the 4th floor are supposed to be the best , the stuff are friendly & helpful
Alexias is so sweet & was very helpful & has the nicest smile ever
the bus stop is under the hotel exactly , u wont have to walk for it
in general some comments that was not good :
first the elevator is very small , hardly fit two ppl or only one with his suit case , the internal pool is supposed to be heated all the time but the one time i went to use it it wasn't & the receptionist said all the heaters are down in the hotel for now , also it's only opened till 7 pm & i think it's more suitable to be opened till 9 pm.
also the sheets are not changed everyday but generally the cleanness level is good.
also there should be a WiFi available in the hotel , you have to buy tickets for it
.
they take a 10 euro deposit for the TV remotes & this is the first time i see that in a hotel but they give it back when u return the remotes.

but overall it's really a good hotel , try to book an upper floor room to get a good view specially of the sea.

the outer pool is very nice too you will enjoy it .

Room Tip: choose a room on the upper floor to get a good view of the sea , the 4th floor rooms are supposed to be the best. also i heard the pent house is amazing but i didn't try it.

The Friendly Islands are in the Pacific Ocean, but the friendliest island of them all is Malta! This was my wife's and my third stay in the Porto Azzurro apartments and this year from 1st to 8th June we were joined by her twin sister and husband. He had done his National Service in the RAF at Siggiewi in 1956/7 and had never been back, so our visit to his old RAF Station was both a principal focus and a highlight of our visit.

We have always been well looked after and find the pool-side and the easy self-catering very much to our liking. The local restaurants are very close at hand and offer a wide range of good food at good prices. The 2 stand-out locations, though, are the Porto del Sol and Sammy's, both within a couple of hundred yards of the front of the hotel.

However, we would like to make particular mention of the part played by Alexis Meylaq in making our various visits so smooth and enjoyable. She handles all our requests and requirements with great professionalism and aplomb and is someone who we have come to rely on for all the intricacies of our bookings. Thank you Alexis!

We are already looking forward to our next visit in June, 2014, when we will be staying in the Penthouse for the first time, with lots more still to see and do.

Porto Azzurro is a place you either like or dislike. I like it.It is at the north end of malta in Xemxija on St Pauls bay.(Lovely Bay) A very quiet area.
You have to be mobile and fit to stay there as it is on a steep road to the reception of the hotel.
Bus travel fom bottom of road to all points on the island. and to near by restaurants and entertainment.
The hotel has both indoor and out door swimming pools, pool bar, a gym, hair salon and sauna.
Internet for a small fee.
Rooms are basic but comfortable.
24 Hour reception.
Staff are very friendly and go out of their way to try to make your stay as comfortable as posible.
Laundry and cleaning done on a regular basis.
The restaurant is new but is not up and running fully at this moment. Due to start fully in two months time. meals from set menu at this moment in time.
The hotel has a bar with music , tv (sport etc).
Any problems see Alexis the hotel relations person.
As I said you eithe like it or hate it. I like it for its quietness and for me to be able to unwind.
C E Hesketh

Room Tip: Don't be affraid to ask or tell them what is wrong. Higher floors have better view.

One very kind and helpful receptionist (Spanish girl)

-
The toilet seat was soo high that a person of 176cm was about 10cm short to be able to put the feet on the ground. The toilet brush broke in 2 pieces (plastic metal look) when used for the first time and a metal plate fell into the toilet.
The bath room didn't have a shower curtain and no drainage in the floor so after each shower the whole floor was totally wet. Also there was no air extraction/ventilation system.
The bed(room) was alright.
The kitchen had a water cooker which we didn't dare to use due to the dirt inside.
The swimming pools inside and outside had not been cleaned all week so there was sand (?) on the bottom and insects on the surface. The main reason why almost everybody stayed out of the water.
There was no remote control for the TV and hair dryer available without having to give them a deposit first. Also there were only 3 hair dryers for the whole hotel and when keeping them during the night they were not happy about it.

But far worst were the noisy rooms and the continues redecorating, construction, drilling and cutting of floor pieces in several rooms around us and downstairs around the gym and inside pool. It started daily around 7:30 and was finished around 18:00. On some days it started around 8:30-9:00. We heard 1 false fire alarm at 5:30 and other guests had heard it some days before also. Due to this, sleeping in or taking a nap during the day was impossible.

Room Tip: Sea side view room was terrible because it mainly consisted of a view on a construction area. The pool side view is probably a little bit better. Our room was enclosed by several other rooms which were under construction for the whole week we stayed there.

With a party of 6 other family members we all booked into an attorious hotel called the Panaoram in Mellieha. We all hated it and the Manager and all moved out.

My self and neice were fortunate enough to get a last minute deal through Onhotels.com for two rooms in the Porto Azzuro. When we arrived they did not have our booking. Within 10 minutes they arranged to put us up in the hotels penthouse suite. Exceptionally friendly and professional staff. What a great start. And it only got better. The GM was friendly, professional and human (after our experience in the Panorama this was a God send) and this reflected in the professionalism and fiendliness of all his staff. Our penthouse suite (I can not do the hotel a diservice by telling the rate but it was given to us at the same rate the we booked the 2 rooms at) consisted of a large dinning./TV/kitchen area with pull out bed (where I stayed) and a wonderful modern and cosy double toom for my neice. 2 shower/toilet rooms. THe views and balcon area were huge, expansive and majesctic (Mountains behind and sea bay in front). Breakfast was excellent - sausages (5/10), Bacon (5/10 - could be cooked a little longer), Boiled eggs and scrambles eggs, toast, croissants, fruit, cerals, yogrut, cold meets and cheese. Machines that gave our fresh coffeee and juice. Not sure what else you can add to a breakfast menue (unless of course you go to the Panorma were they dont give you the egg or meat options. One or the other every alternative day.) .Large swimming pool and sunbathing areas with spacious eating and bar area. Indoor Pool (that did not appeal to me) and small but well stocked gym). The Porto Azzuro is a good choice hotel with a number of well positioned Restaurants and cafes in the local vacinity.

Room Tip: Ensure your high up to avail of the Bay and Mountain views. Not to sure if you will get these in the lower rooms
