we have just spent a week at the white dolphin , this is a basic good base for a self catering holiday we didn't use the pool or loungers but they were available and were free. we had a ground floor room with a courtyard at the back ,it didn't get the sun and the smell from the kitchens made it we felt unusable but it didn't stop us enjoying our week away .the staff are friendly and helpful . we found a local bar across the road called images where mark and vannesa made us welcome well worth a visit I would say too avoid frattelles further along as the service is appalling we waited 50 mins for our meal and then the staff said we are having problems so we just left and went to chaplins round the corner which is still worth a visit and good value

Room Tip: try and avoid ground floor rooms

Just got back from a week’s stay at the White Dolphin, very happy.
Where to begin this was our 3th stay here in the last 15 years and the standard has always been good. We stayed bed & breakfast, which is served from 8am till 10.30am. Rooms are a good size clean and tidy, towels were changed mid week.
We had no problem get a sun loungers (but we did get up for breakfast every morning) no mad rush which was nice. The pool does lose the sun by 2.30pm but the beach if you want more is only 5-minute walk away.
The restaurant is of a good standard and well worth visiting. I was a bit concerned as previously the calconze pizza’s were very good and one off the things I was looking forward to but when I looked at the menu the one I wanted had olives in it. I mentioned this to Lino (top hard working waiter/barman) and he said no problem they would make it without them for me, so you no they are not pre made.
Also they now have a barbecue night on a Friday all you can eat for 16 euros well worth it with live entertainment.
Drinks are on par with most places on the island 2.50 Euros for a pint of Cisk beer.

This hotel is ideal for families with young children, or couples it only has 50 rooms which is a nice friendly size hotel they don’t attract large groups of student’s etc. and the music stops at 11pm.

To sum up clean friendly fair price what more could you ask for.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor if poss

excellent value for money for a three star accommodation, we stayed for 14 nights 29th july - 13 aug 2013 ,we stayed on the 2nd floor 209 two bedroomed apt with sea and pool view , basic but clean ,no problems regarding clean towels or bedding , staff very friendly air con superb, slept soundly every night , great base to explore .... downsides ... no scissors ,sharp knife req, get down early on a sunday morning to grab your sunbeds because the locals take over the place .... tip ..... if you want to go to the blue lagoon go out of season , far to many people

Room Tip: pool and sea view two bedroom apartment , keep away from the ground floor

I stayed at the White Dolphin for 14 nights, I had a great room with a balcony over looking the pool. Room was clean, tidy, had all the amenities I needed for my stay as a self catering apartment. Pool was lovely, free sunbeds with a bar & food available throughout the day.
The restaurant within the White Dolphin was great & the food fabulous and has a lot of well known locals that choose to eat there for a family meal.
The staff were great & could not do enough for you, excellent service - thank you Leano, Jesmond, Richard, Anton & George

just got back from a weeks holiday, if you stay at this hotel make sure you dont have a ground floor room, they are tatty and dated, beds were uncomfortable, self catering ap consisted of a two ring stove and microwave, patio area ... well what can I say ? couldnt sit out in it because of the smell. we didnt eat on the premises as we found the staff unaproachable, went to the bar on a couple of occasions and staff didnt even speak? would definatley not recommend or go back to this hotel, but Malta was beautiful

Dear Guest,

We are very sorry that you did not have an enjoyable stay with us. Unfortunately, from your review we do not have enough information about your booking details so we cannot reply to your comments about the room you booked or if you came to the Reception to see if we could accomodate any requests you were disappointed with. The staff at our bar / restaurant , who happen to be the managers of the restaurant, are usually very helpful and approachable and it’s not in their interst not to speak to guests so we find it very strange that they were ‘unapproachable’ and ‘did not even speak’.

We are happy that you liked Malta and our islands.

Just back from a week in Malta and the white dolphin. We got a ground floor room we named the Pit! No natural sunlight at all outside space was a 3foot square area with 15foot walls all around everyone's rubbish was swept onto our floor...awful. the pool only got sunlight until 2'30 which I didn't mind as it was so hot it was nice to have a break but no good for Sun worshipers. The pool area was not well kept at all, the space furthest from the bar wasn't even swept on a night so lots of rubbish lying around which meant lots of ants!
We didn't spend too much time in the room so didn't feel the need to upgrade especially as it would have meant nearly double the cost. Malta as a whole was glorious, beautiful weather, great culture and fabulous food. Lots of great restaurants close to this hotel and plenty to do for both couples and families.
Loved Malta....definitely wouldn't recommend these very poor apartments.

Room Tip: Don't....chose a different accommodation

Dear Guest, thank you for your review on your stay at the White Dolphin. Your comments are always welcome as they help us to improve our services.

The balconies of our one bedroom apartments overlook the terraces of our ground floor apartments and, unfortunately, some guests do not respect the privacy and cleanliness of other guests. It does not happen often that guests on higher floors throw things out of their balcony and unless we know from which floor this is happening we cannot speak to these guests to rectify this problem. From your review, we do not have enough information about your booking details but we had an incident this Summer whereby guests from a higher floor where throwing their rubbish out of their balcony and since the guest on the ground floor could not locate from where it was coming from we just had to offer to clean their terrace more often or to move to another apartment.

Due to the structure of the Complex, sunshine is available around the pool area from dawn till around 3.45pm. Sun lovers, therefore, can only sunbathe till that time after which they can walk down to the seaside which is 5 minutes away on foot.

Upgrades are only available for our one bedroom sea view penthouses and the price for the ugprade is usually the difference between the market price of the penthouse and the price the guests pay for the accomodation they booked for.

We are sorry you did not have an enjoyable stay with us but very glad that you liked Malta and our islands.
