you get what you pay for, and we paid less than 25$ per night as a couple including breakfast, so it's not surprising that the hotel is maybe a little older, in need of some renovation. We are a married couple and we were given a room with three single beds. Not the end of the world. The rooms were pretty bare, but they had an oil heater witch was SO ESSENTIAL for me to enjoy Malta. We really appreciated that heater. (It's not that warm here in April!) The maid did a fine job, the bathrooms were clean and towels were provided every other day or so. Funnily, if you close the bathroom door at night there is less noise from the building getting in. There is a restaurant that serves buffet style dinner and you can purchase this in a package, so if you buy 6 meals it works out to a savings of 2 euros per meal or something. The food is ok, not great. If you do eat there, GET RECEIPTS when you pay for your meals or drinks at the time of the meal. As Gareth S mentioned ---- We paid for a bottle of wine, didn't get a receipt and were forced to pay for it AGAIN before we were allowed to check out. If we had known where to eat in the area / had a car, we probably would have eaten out. By the end of the trip we had found a few decent and affordable restaurants along the water. The hop on hop off tour bus picks up outside this hotel which is a big plus. The hotel has a lovely looking pool area that we did not get to enjoy as the weather wasn;t quite there yet, but also because there is SO MUCH TO SEE IN MALTA!!!
