Where to start, We have stayed here quite a few times, this year it is going the way that a few other hotels on Malta have gone.Down in quality.
The rooms are not 4 star as the hotel implies, 11 foot by 13 foot with a small entrance hall, the bathroom, how can I put it. you can sit on the loo, with your feet in the bath and wash you hands in the wash basin, when you open the bathroom door it misses the toilet by 1-2 inches.
Food all the food is cooked, but to what standard. basic cooking ie. veg, potatoes etc still needs to be refined. Main courses over the 11 days we where ther I saw more food thrown away than consumed. Kids if they like nuggets and chips or burger they will have a varied diet, sausage, nuggets, burger, fish cakes. all with chips. Breakfast Sausage look for the ones which are browned they are the cooked ones, bacon is smoked but only some of it will be cooked. Bread some is fresh some is from the previous day one the previos one to that. Croisants are there for breakfast some are liable to break the plate if dropped. The food as really gone down hill since our last visit.
Everything you want you have to pay for Tea and Coffee making facilities, safe key, WiFi, drinks from the bar if not all inclusive are expensive and of a poor quality.
The beds are comfortable, towels holy. this hotel is tired and ready for a complete rebuild. Sorry to put people off but I say what I see and we love Malt.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must 5floor or above I will ad photos when I get chance

Very clean, and very freindly staff, although i would say that it is more suited towards the more mature clientel. Entertainment is aimed mainly at the mature person and no alternate entertainment for younger people is provided by younger i mean under 75.

Room Tip: go for a sea view as other rooms either look out to back streets or a miserable looking courtyard

We have stayed in many hotels worldwide, this is one of the worst. Built in the early 80's, the hotel is very out of date and seems to not have been maintained.
The two single beds in our room were ridiculously uncomfortable and old. They had springs missing and were in need of replacement. Our bedding was not changed once for the 4 nights we were there. The bathroom stank like sewerage and the room like cigarette smoke from the hallway.
There were plenty of additional charges ie fees for safe key, tv remote and also wifi that hardly had reception.
The food for breakfast was appalling, very much like a school camp feed. Little variety and not fresh.
Staff were helpful the majority of the time, however didn't give the 'welcome guest' feeling.
Over priced for what you get. Will not be going back.

Me and my wife stayed at the Qawra Palace for one week from the 21/05/2013.The only reason it could be classed as 4 star would be the out door and indoor pool areas.Room ok but could not use balcony as to small and to close to the next one, could not even have a private conversation.Food average chef did not know which dish was which, tables needed to be cleaned quicker ie. clean table cloths cutlery, when asked waiter to clean table he got culery of another table touching the none handle end, then asking if that would do.Found most of the staff quite rude as if they were doing you a favour.Would not go back.

Room Tip: A seaview room is a must.

me and my husband are now 50,and have travelled world wide from 5 star to a hostel! we have been going to malta for many years through my childrans young years as my husbands family had a holiday home here... i have stayed in this hotel and have always found it to be top notch for cleanes and the food very good typical for the british taste, the pool is lovely and the people wonderful.the drinks are usually known brands, and the last review stated there are no beaches in malta....this is totally untrue there are some beautiful beaches, mellia bay, paradise bay ect .true they are not close to the hotel but not far!! the reason i say a 3 star is because its a little tiered looking, but believe me if your staying in st pauls bay this is one of the best.the doleman is nice but the food not so good!! if your looking for a family friendly hotel with happy staff then this is the hotel for you....we are ourselfs going to the palace in july for 2 weeks and im looking forward to our stay .....

Just stayed for 3 nights whilst on business, my wife was relaxing. I must say I don't know who rates these type of worn out hotels to 4 star. The beds were too small and quite hard the lighting in the bedroom made it very difficult to read at night? The bathroom was disgusting nylon shower curtain with mould at the bottom same for the bath mat. Many tiles with black mould residue and generally sanitary ware that had seen its best days, water pressure poor.

The lifts take ages and generally stop at each floor and it can be an expedition to get the dining room at peak flow..........
On a positive note the dining staff were helpful, but the food was no better than "school dinners"! Tasteless, bland quite warm rather than heated and limited options especially fruit - apples and oranges or the hard token kiwi. We ended up eating out last night could not face it or breakfasts famous rubbery fryed eggs.

Just got back from a nine night stay at the Qawra Palace, stayed in room 402, and what a room, great views of the bay and sunshine on our balcony all morning, so great for sunbathing. Food and drink where gorgeous and plentiful, all the staff where very friendly from the maintenance people up to the suit and tie men.
