“Took away from our vacation”

Malta was a wonderful place but dealing with this dive centre was a headache. My husband and I dreaded having to communicate with those involved in "running" the place because it was apparent that they only wanted to go ahead with what was most convenient for them. I would not have rated this place terrible based on the diving experience alone, I would have just rated it as poor because truly no one wanted to go an extra mile to ensure a quality experience but after reading the replies from management you can just see what kind of people you're doing business with. Each response from Aquatica attempts to turn the clients' issues back in ther faces and blame them. Not one genuine apology or a response that appears anything but rude. Aside from this, aquatica did not respect our voice, we suggested two sites we wanted to visit and the guide flat out said he didn't feel it was where we should go, no reasons given but instead he decided we would be going somewhere closer and less depth. We are advanced Padi divers and easily could have managed the sites we had wanted to visit and will never really understand why we did not go other than lack of convenience for our guide. A few other annoyances with the company but I'm sure if I went into detail they would only be turned around and used against us because apparently nothing is constructive to them unless it's positive.

We would like to know which instructor was with you on the day you dived and also who at the shop you dealt with.

It would be more appropriate to contact us in a private manner as this should not be any witch hunt.

As a standard we take great care to ensure we meet customers demands while keeping the experience safe and fun.

This is not about trying to find who's right or wrong but just trying to understand what led you to write such a review.

“Pay the extra money and go with a serious dive shop”

The only thing we found good about Aquatica was the British dive guide. He was very informative and really wanted you to enjoy your dives. We paid for 4 dives (they wanted it upfront, unlike other dive shops in Malta) which were to be completed in two days. We were told we could pick which dive sites we would like to visit for our dives. We arrived 20 minutes late (due to the slow bus system in Malta) on our first dive day and were told to get onto the dive truck with the rest of the group to the dive site. We were not told which dive site we were going to or even asked about our choice. When we arrived to the site, we learned that it was an AOW dive and that we (OW) would be diving around the shore as the rest of group completed two of their dives. Unimpressed already with the lack of communication, they wanted to complete 2/4 dives at this location doing a shallow, boring dive. We did not agree to waste 2 dives at this place so we only did 1. The dive was awful due to poorly fitting equipment (man who fitted our equipment the first day was not even a diver) and could not fully complete our dive. The next day was a great improvement as another dive guide took us to great dive sites and really showed us as much as he could during the dives. At the end of our trip we had only completed 3/4 dives (as they could not accommodate a second dive at the end of the first day). This is where the ugly side of the management of Aquatica really shined. We decided that because the dive guide really tried to make it up to us for the very poor dive the first day, that we would not argue about paying for the 1st dive. However, the matter remind about the 4th dive which we did not complete (and could not complete due to time restriction) and we requested a refund. The person in the shop called Daryl about the refund who told him to refund us the price of a single dive in a 3 dive package. This was absurd as we we're not ok with losing money when the fault was clearly in their hands. We were told to return at a later hour to speak with him about receiving a full refund for a single dive in a 4 dive package. Reasoning with this person was useless. He was very condescending and tried to scam us with refunding us a reduced fare than what we paid. He told us that it was our fault for arriving late the first day that we did not get a choice in location and that locations can be chosen when they are convenient for them. He could not see that it was in their hands that we did not complete the fourth dive and that it was our fault for sitting out the second useless dive of the first day. It the end we received our refund but he had to make it clear that he was being such a great guy for doing the refund when he had no obligation to. Very disappointed with this place and would never recommend it to anyone. The shop has more angling equipment than diving equipment so I guess that should have been our first clue.

“Fit the Bill”

A week before our cruise was due to port in Malta I contacted Aquatica to try and squeeze in a quick dive for my husband during our mere 8 hour visit to Malta. Daryl was quick to respond to my inquiry and agreed to work with us knowing we were under tight time limitations. We requested an afternoon dive at a location where my kids and I could snorkel while my husband went diving. We met at the dive shop for fitting, went to a nearby dive location, where my husband did a shore dive for about 45 minutes, and then left his gear in the truck and we were on our way. It wasn't the most brilliant dive spot, but it was close and given our time restrictions it fit the bill. Although my husband was fitted very quickly with gear we had to wait about 45 minutes for another group to be picked up and fitted before we could leave for the dive. It would have been perfect if we could have headed to the dive site as soon as we were ready but logistically I understand why we all needed to head down there together. I'm most impressed with Aquatica for their willingness to work with us and cater to our needs for the day. The staff was friendly and professional. We had a great experience with Aquatica.

“Aquatica Diving Centre Malta”

From the very first e mail i sent to Aquatica, Daryl was extremely helpful, booking everything from the whole five day diving package for my family, to arranging a good hotel and pick up / drop off from the airport. I was very impressed with the professionalism of all the staff at the shop, but the holiday and whole experience was really made by Jon, Dave and the Two Alain's who were so so helpful, NOTHING was too much trouble or bother. Everything we needed or questions asked were attended to happily and with smiles on their faces.

Highly recommended.

in june we went to Malta and we have been diving with aquatica. They did a great job, the instructors are very nice en are very experienced. We have seen great wrecks and the nightdive was great. They alsow arranged the accomodation and pick-up from the appartment and pick-ups for divind...great..I would recommend every one to dive with aquatica.
