“Excellent”

Great value for your money. Food was great and service very polite and helpful. Local specialties in cosy surroundings. Don't expect ordinary pizza and pasta menu.

“Traditional Food”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

Capanna Carla features typical food of the region. Our waiter was very friendly and was happy to discuss the menu and make suggestions. Overall, the food was good, but most dishes did not amaze us. We did, however, quite enjoy the "Zuppa Valdostana", which consists of bread layered with cheese, onions and cabbage and cooked in broth.

“Strong, authentic flavours from the tradition of the Aosta Valley in a cosy 17th-century chalet”
Reviewed May 1, 2012

The late 17th-century chalet, with its low ceilings and old-time utensils hanging on the thick walls of the three cosy small dining rooms, would be a good reason in itself to have a dinner at the Capanna Carla.
A rich menu from the local tradition adds to the warm atmosphere. If you are vegetarian or on a low-calorie diet, you'd better keep clear of this place. Otherwise, pretty much everything is worth trying. As the first course, I would suggest the strong and delicious taste of the ravioli seasoned with a truffle-flavoured sauce of wild boar meat, plums and fondue. As the second course, I would recommend the carbonade, a typical Aosta Valley dish of salt beef cut in small pieces, slowly cooked with garlic and smoked lard and finally seasoned with a sauce of wine and spices.
Of course you'll need to wash down your meal with a bottle of local red wine, on which the owner will certainly give you a learned lecture.
