What a lovely property - the rooms were huge and so nicely furnished, with sparkling new spacious bathrooms. And the common areas were so very inviting - could have spent hours by the fire in the salon, leafing through the many magazines and books. The owners and staff are very warm, welcoming, and caring - although we had to leave early there was a bountiful breakfast buffet (with several delicious home-made cakes) awaiting us in the morning.

Room Tip: We loved our room with the spacious terrace overlooking the grounds.

Our second visit in two years, the first for 3 days and this one for four days. The ever-present and welcoming owners, Mrs. & Mr. Zuccari, have carefully renovated and expanded the 400 yearold Zuccari home to high standards and excellent taste. This is combined with lovely grounds and a convenient location near the ancient village of Montefalco. The location is approximately one hour or less from the eight most wonderful but varied cities/towns of Umbria. Mrs. Zuccari enthusiastically provides helpful information about them as she also brings a special appreciation of the many Umbrian specialties amongst the bountiful breakfast offerings. The entire staff is warm and devoted to one's enjoyment. Their restaurant is excellent, with a good offering of Umbrian wines and food. Bedrooms are large and tastefully appointed with highest quality.

Room Tip: Request a room facing south, outstanding views.

A perfect place to explore Umbria. We had a “standard” room that was large, clean and extremely comfortable. The whole Villa is beautiful with wonderful grounds and sitting areas. Danielle had a wonderful fresh breakfast for us every day and we enjoyed our visits with her. The front desk staff was always courteous and friendly. We ate 2 nights in the restaurant and the food was excellent and Francesco took very good care of us. We relaxed on the outside eating area at night with our friends and felt like part of the Zucarri family. Their dog Peepo made it feel even more like home. We would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to explore Umbria!

Room Tip: upgrade above standard if you want to look out on the pool side.

We stayed at the Villa Zuccari for three days in early October. We enjoyed the quiet setting and proximity for day trips to wineries and the walled cities in this region of Umbria. The Zuccari family are on site ensuring quality service. We ate dinner there every night rather than drive to near by towns. The food is fantastic. We woke up to church bells ringing, doves cooing and the sunset from our balcony was incredible. This is a great place to cycle.

Room Tip: second floor room overlooking pool

A little more upscale than homey, and homey and charming are what I prefer, but if you want to feel like nobility for a day, this a good place to do it. Lovely formal gardens, beautiful rooms, great common spaces and a lovely restaurant make this a good place to rest near Montefalco. Take the short walk to Montefalco for some lovely views and a stroll through vineyards. The breakfast is wonderful and the management is very nice and very proud (rightfully so) of the property. I just never felt like I was well heeled enough to be hanging out in the gardens!

Room Tip: There can't be a bad room in the place

We stayed here for four nights, and found it to be very enjoyable. The location was perfect for visiting other Umbrian towns. The breakfasts were good, with fresh pastries made daily by the owner, Danielle Zuccari, and a nice array of fruits. It was delightful eating breakfast out on the covered patio. Our room was spacious, and our balcony had a lovely view of the pool and hills; however, it was sparsely decorated and pretty dull. Some pictures on the walls would help a lot. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us good ideas on where to go and what to do. We had dinner in the restaurant twice, and had excellent meals in a lovely garden setting. The faro salad was outstanding, and I am going to try to duplicate it. The Irish Setter belonging to the owner was adorable, and loved to be petted. He could generally be found sleeping on his back in the front entry, jumping up to greet each guest and get some attention. The owner, while pleasant, seemed to always be keeping a watchful eye on the guests to make sure that no rules were being broken. It appeared to me that the villa was being modernized a bit; as we were leaving we noticed that wifi was being installed in the upstairs hall. We would definitely stay there again.

We loved our two week stay in Villa Zuccari, the breakfast was good and the pool / gardens were very peaceful and pleasant. We had the large suite and the balcony was huge - however it only contained 2 chairs, a small table and an umbrella. It could have been utilised far more by putting sunbeds on it. I agree with Marianne & David about the penny pinching though - paying for internet access (E5 for 5 hours) and if you required more than 1 towel for the pool for your stay then a charge of E2 was levied! This seems crazy when we spent over E3,100 there. The staff were great and their command of numerous languages is to be commended. They were very pleasant and helpful however, the same could not be said of the owner.
