Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: Our Living Italy 7 day boutique itineraries began from our home base near Montefalco in Umbria, and involve numerous locals living in the area. We designed the various programs and itineraries initially based on our own experiences living here, and now include activities sourced from our wide circle of friends; cooks, winemakers, artists, potters, historians and musicians. The people you will meet on the programs are all part of an extened team of local residents who have a passion for their specific skills and produce as well as for their homes into which you are often invited.

"I am widely travelled single woman. Private travel, NGO organizations, commercial basic and upmarket tours have all been part of my travelling experiences over more than 40 years. in 2004 i developed coeliac disease, necessitating a strict gluten free diet. Living Italy were absolutely meticulous in ensuring that when dining out, I was catered for more than adequately.

Living italy delivered more than it promised. Quite remarkable. It was a great experience. Only increasing age, now 80, and deteriorating health prevents me from travelling with them again.

Can't recommend them highly enough".

So far I've travelled twice with Carol and Neil's 'Living Italy' boutique tours: around Umbria and around Sicily, both of which were unforgettable experiences: staying in a 15th century agriturismo, Camiano Piccolo, in Montefalco, not having to unpack our suitcase the whole time, our private mini-bus took us out every day (and night), being treated like a small family group, dining al fresco on the simple, local produce - I've never groaned over a tomato before - the bruschetta was divine; as was the Sicilian food, their cassata can't be overlooked! Neil's tours and talks on art was incredible - absolutely not to be missed. So I'm off on my third tour with them down south in a couple of months'.

The hosts were warm an accomodating, the local food was amazing, traditional. It was the perfect summer holiday, that covered all bases, history, art, beautiful valley views and perfect warm weather.

Touring Umbria with Living Italy was fascinating and packed with interesting towns, churches, ruins and cultures. Montefalco is lovely and worth spending extra time.

Living Italy are brilliant to deal with and a joy to travel with. Flexible, accommodating, knowledgeable. Because Neil and Carol live in Italy, they know Italy and after touring with them twice now we feel we have experienced some of the real Italy too.
Montefalco is a perfect rustic base from which to explore Umbria-no "bags out by 6am"; your small group of fellow-travellers enjoys daytrips out into the region, visiting various towns and attractions, taking part in genuine local truffle hunts, cooking classes etc, and returns to Pieros's and Guiseppe's hospitality each evening.
Our tour to the Abbruzzo was equally well-organised, scenic, easygoing and educational.
We'll be travelling with Living Italy again and absolutely recommend them to show you the most wonderful and rewarding time in beautiful Italy.
