“Great day trip from Rome”
Reviewed October 17, 2010

We were staying in Rome, and looking for a day trip to some wineries. Mark and Giselle made it so easy for us!! They told us exactly which train to take, the schedules, and even the track. Tickets were cheap -- only about $25 per person round trip from Rome to Trevi. Maybe 1 hour and 45 minute train ride through beautiful countryside. Mark was there waiting for us when we got off the train.
As all of the other reviews said, this trip was a day to remember. We had a small group -- just the two of us! We were with Mark from about 9:30 am until 6pm when he dropped us back at the train. He drove us around the Montefalco area, stopping for pictures and telling us much about the area, the wineries, anything we wanted to know. We didn't visit the big over-priced touristy wineries -- no, we visited the small garage wineries. We talked with the owners, who spent quite a bit of time with us. Most didn't speak English, so it was a must to have Mark there to translate, and make sure we made the most of our tastings. Lunch was relaxing and delicious -- definitely not the type of lunch you'd get at a large bus tour trip through wine country. No one pressed us to buy any wine, and Mark kept reminding us that we were there just to enjoy the day. Of course, after tasting the wines, we couldn't help it and bought nearly 2 cases, plus some olive oil.....
If you are looking to avoid the big bus tours, and want a customized small group day trip from Rome through Umbrian wine country, this is the trip to take! Thank you Mark and Giselle!!

“Great day activity - excellent wines, food, and lots of laughs”
Reviewed October 13, 2010

If you are in Umbria and have seen too many hill-top medieval towns, have a great time relaxing and unwinding with Gusto Wine Tours.
Definitely one of the most memorable activities during our vacation in Italy. In a small group (6 people) we rode the country roads and visited 3 cantinas, talked to the owners/winemakers, saw wine-making equipment , sniffed/tasted grape juice at different stages of fermentation, and, of course, tasted wine - lots of great wine. We were also treated to a full course excellent lunch with (what else?) wine.
Most cantinas also grow olives and press and sell their olive oil - ask to taste it.
Gusto wine tour definitely exceeded our expectations.

“Wow, what fun!”
Reviewed October 12, 2010

We returned from Umbria last week and can only say, "Thanks, Mark and Giselle, for organizing one of the most fun things we'ver ever done." Your tour gave us the chance to see the beautiful countryside, meet the charming families at the wineries, feast on some of the simple, delicious cuisine of the area and taste some awesome wines. Besides that, you let us ask you questions until long after you wished we'd shut up. We are desperately seeking a source for Sagrantino and can't wait for the case of wine we shipped to arrive. You obviously love what you do and you do it so well! Thanks

“The Perfect Way To Round Out A Trip To Umbria”
Reviewed October 3, 2010

A group of seven of us booked a tour with Mark and Giselle for September 21, 2010. Mark took us to three small cantinas with the most complex wines any of us have ever tasted and also took us to our first agriturismo, where we had an amazing lunch. He was very knowledgeable, approachable and we had a great time listening to him tell us about the area and the people running these establishments. We were able to see a part of Umbria that if it weren't for this tour, we would never have known was there. Many bottles were bought, laughs had and just an all around great adventure. We were all so happy in the end and would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to try unique wines and see a part of Umbria that you wouldn't otherwise.
