“Affordable non touristy wine tour, where you are up and personal with the wine makers.”
Reviewed March 24, 2010

Gusto Wine Tours gives you a bang for your buck! Very " real" and not pretentious.( compared to my experience with Napa / Sonoma, CA wineries) Mark, the owner and guide is wonderful and very personable. He took us to some local family run wineries, where you'll be treated like family. I even got a delicious biscotti recipe from them. Don't eat too much for breakfast, because you'll definitely will be stuffed from all the food pairings that will go with the wine tasting. ie: bruschetta with organic olive oils, salame and other delicious items; not to mention the lunch that is included.

It is a full day tour with a small group, who will eventually become your friends:) The tour is slow and relaxing, you won't feel like you are carted around just to buy wine. Wear comfortable shoes, dress casual and enjoy!!! ***don't forget your camera...great pic oppotunities of the Montefalco countryside. I was lucky to have a memorable pic taken while we wrapped up at our last winery, during sunset...spectacular!

“Tour of Montefalco Wineries February 2010”
Reviewed March 12, 2010

Great wines, beautiful views, and very good food - this is what we experienced on our recent tour with Gusto Wine Tours. During the full day we visited a number of wineries which were smaller "family" owned and operated where we were warmly welcomed with generous tastings of their excellent wines (including the wonderful Montefalco Sagrantino), light food and a tour of the winery.

Our excellent lunch was at an Agriturismo situated high above the plains with great views across the valleys.

Mark, our very knowledgeable and affable driver, took us through beautiful countryside with some fabulous views. His extensive knowledge of the local wines and the Montefalco area helped make this a wine tour to remember.

We highly recommend Gusto Wine Tours.

Bruce

“a very special wine tour”

Mark and Giselle of Gusto Wine Tours provide an unforgettable, off the beaten path experience of the Umbrian countryside, its people, and its excellent wines. A day with them and their other guests feels like a fun outing with friends you have known for a long time.

As described by the previous reviews the organization is accurate, the wines are delicious, the farms are family-run hidden gems each with a fantastic setting. For visitors with limited time and knowledge of the Italian language, this is a perfect introduction not only to the wines but to the landscape and food this enchanting region. Do go, you will love it.

“Intimate wine tasting with the wine makers in Umbria”
Reviewed February 1, 2010

In Italy, one rarely can find wineries set up for public wine tastings because most of winery owners are out in the vineyards or working the cellers. Having someone locally like the tour operators of Gusto Wine Tour provides not only the connections to the local wineries but also the insight to the local wines: quality, organic vine growers or not, is BIG Plus.

We spent a day with Gusto Wine Tours touring around the beautiful Umbria wine region "Montefalco" and around. They took us to four wineries, we tasted the famous Sagrantino, as well as other reds, whites and "passito" the Italian dessert wine.

There were no glitzy wine tasting rooms, instead, we were greeted by the grandma, grandpa and the pets as we arrived. The wives brought out their home made salumi, bruschetta drizzled with new olive oil, and their own desserts to compliment the wines. While we were tasting the wines and sampling the Umbrian local food, we watched the families working in their cellers (cantina) or their farms. It's indeed an unique experience we would never forget.

In between wineries, the tour operators also arranged a fabulous lunch at a delightful "agriturismo" which was totally tucked away. The beautiful setting of the hillside, the delicious local dishes, scrumptious chocolate souffle, and more wines kept us lingering by the dining table forever. After a 3 hours leisur meal in the middle of the day with friends, we felt very "Italian" indeed.....
