“Foodie retreat”

Terre di Himera is a wonderful retreat in the quiet countryside inland from the temple and museum at Termini Imerese. The converted police station is rustic and lovingly renovated with large ceilinged stone rooms and modern comforts. Maria and Fabrizio are generous hosts and everyone who visits must stay for dinner. Maria's simple, locally sourced and seasonal dishes are delicious, the recommended wines too. Maria provides plenty of info on the food's sourcing.
I would recommend bringing your own transport here though, so you are able to explore the nearby hill villages of the Madonie National Park. Otherwise, just kick back and relax with the views over the olive and almond groves.

Room Tip: I recommend you bring your own transport so you can use the B&B as a base to explore the nearby...

Terra di Himera is fantastic. This was our peaceful stop on our honeymoon and it definitely was that. We relaxed, ate Maria's amazing sicilian food and just breathed in the clean country air. Our room was lovely and big with an additional sofa and beautiful views. Food was the best we had in sicily - my husband loved the pork belly cooked on a wood fire and pastas, I loved Maria's antipasti.

Thank you so much. Only point is can you please put a sign up at the house? We missed it and ended up adding an hour to our journey. To others going, it is about 2km from the turning off the main road and on the right hand side (look for the other tourist fiat pandas!)

We spent the last three nights of our second two-week Sicilian road trip here, including my birthday, which Maria, our host remembered at dinner.

Terre di Himera is a delight, delicious food, great hosts, wonderful views, and a lovely room (we had the four poster). Great to be among the olive groves and scent of jasmine, on the ancient land of Himera. A good base for a day trip exploring the beautiful Madonie mountains and it's towns and villages.
Also easy access to Cefalu and the beach.

Very glad we stayed here and not in Cefalu itself, which is now very touristy, like Taormina. Beach good for a swim and sunbathe though. Must say I'm an Ortegia-holic, having rented an apartment there twice now. Also a tourist destination, but somehow remains chic.

The Himera archeological museum is just down the road and worth a look...smaller than those in Agrigento and Syracuse, but with some interesting items, including a beautiful golden tray.

Good luck Maria and Fabrizio with your rural retreat and its fantastic views!

We stayed for a couple of nights in September. It was easy enough to find once you know you turn by a sign to the archaeological site as the B&b is not sign posted from the road. then it's up a track to the B&b where there is a sign to confirm you are heading in the right direction. There was no sign with the B&b name on the entrance but it's quite obvious once you get there.

We had pastries, pomegranate juice and coffee on arrival and sat in the courtyard. This is where we ate breakfast the following day and where dinner was. There are also 2 resident cats - one of which is very friendly.

We had the smaller economy room. It was a little on the small side but we were able to sit outside as the weather was still nice. The wifi worked from our room and also in the courtyard which was better than he other places we had stayed in Sicily.

The meals were the highlight of our stay. We all sat down at one sitting and there was antipasti, pasta, meat grilled on the BBQ and then icecream for dessert. There is water on the table and their home grown olive oil. You can buy wine off her for about 9 euros upward to drink with dinner. The food was very good- we had dinner 2 nights and on the 2nd night it was particularly good especially the pasta dish with tomatoes and ricotta cheese, the local cheese and the pistachio icecream. Breakfast was nice with fresh juice, strong coffee, cakes, biscuits, cold meat and pastries.

The only downside with the place was at breakfast and dinner the tables are individual but very close together. This is ok except this can make it difficult for you to enjoy your own conversation at dinner when one of the other tables is speaking very loudly and can dominate the whole area.Perhaps it would be better to have one long table so it is a group dinner or space the tables out.

Other than that we enjoyed our stay and would return if in the area.

Thank you for a wonderful stay in your gorgeous inn. Dinner was a true experience in Sicilian cuisine and such a great value. Breakfast was beautiful and very generous. Rooms are well done and perfectly clean. Would only suggest some AC during the hottest times of the year. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Room Tip: All are good.

Great location, hosts, food and price. Read the reviews before booking and was excited to see what was on the menu due to all the rave reviews regarding the authentic Sicilian cuisine. I've lived in Sicily fro two years and would have to 100% endorse what everyone else said: fabulous Sicilian cuisine that reflected the region of where Terre Di Himera is located. Only two things that some would find a bit annoying: cash only and the AC units hadn't been turned on for the season (as of June 24th). Other than that, the property was gorgeous and the rooms charming...would go back if I wasn't moving back to the US!

We can only echo the previous reviews when we say that this is an exceptional place to stay. Our hire car broke down on the winding road running up to Terre Di Himera, only for Fabrizio to be heading in the opposite direction to ferry us the rest of the way. We received the warmest welcome. Maria's cooking was divine using local produce and the setting of a different fiery sunset each night provided the perfect backdrop. Fabrizzio spent the morning arranging for a new hire car to be brought out to us and we can't thank him enough for all his help. We loved our stay and wanted to tell everyone that you need look no further than Terre di Himera. The hospitality and charming room/surroundings were ideal for us.

Thank you Maria & Fabrizio.
