Very much a brasserie style restaurant like Balthazar in NYC. Fun place to go for dinner with classic dishes like Steak frites. Not inexpensive. Food is on a 1-10 scale maybe 7-8. Ambiance is why you go here. Loved our waitress. Service was good.

Had a delicious well prepared, well serviced dinner with a large group. Only disappointment was the desert. Great atmosphere, cocktails, wine and the best Rockfish I have had in years. Could have been in NYC or Paris.

We had no idea where to eat on our first visit to Richmond. We happened to be driving down Cary Street and decided to walk to find dinner. Came upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try. WOW! What a lucky find! This place has it all, great service, fine food and a fun vibrant atmosphere. Morgan, our server, was attentive and helpful. We mentioned that we hadn't eaten since breakfast and she suggested a large appetizer of mussels which arrived instantaneously! It was a generous portion cooked perfectly. Our main course of snapper was equally impressive and the side of Mac and cheese was some of the best ever and once again very generous in size. Be careful ordering because you want to leave room for their creative and yummy desserts. chocolate Cream burle was my favorite and the chocolate jalapeño was intriguing to my husband. If I had a criticism it would be their signature cocktail list. Every cocktail had way too many ingredients, many that we didn't know. We went with something we knew, lemon drops, and they were tasty, generous in size and potent! The restaurant was a bit loud but since its a French Brasserie, it seemed in character .

This restaurant has good French-style dishes. The wine list is also entirely French. Although not cheap, there is a vibrant atmosphere - we went midweek - and the dishes we chose were admirable - French onion soup, followed by baked cod in broth. The house wine is a little rustic (Corbieres), but the Cotes du Rhone by the glass was pleasant enough. It is an extensive list with some pretty hefty prices, but probably no more than you would pay in a restaurant in France.

This was a good night out at the best restaurant we visited in a week's stay in Virginia.

Two courses with an aperitif each and a carafe of wine and tip was $130.

My husband and I ate at numerous places while visiting Richmond but Can Can was by far the best meal we had. I got the braised lamb shoulder, fig appetizer and chocolate creme brûlée for dessert....magical! Don't visit Richmond without eating at Can Can. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly.
