I love the Byrd. The theater itself is beautiful and wonderfully restored. The organ that comes out of the floor is beautiful, and the man who plays it is a wonder. The price is the best in town, and I find myself waiting for movies to leave theaters to see them at the Byrd. The only downside are the seats, which are old and rickety and not overly comfortable. If you are tall you will want to sit on the aisle because the rows are very close together.

Not only is the theatre the best bargain in any town, the total experience was inspiring both to the senses and the heart. Go on the weekend so that you get a pre-movie experience of an organ concert. The audience was composed of all age groups, but old and young alike clearly appreciated and respected the performance.

This is one theatre you must visit located in the heart of Carytown. Can you believe that you can still go see a movie for $1.99? The price is almost as old as the theatre. But this is a classic theatre. Original old wooden fold up seats. Even when I'm not seeing a movie, I still stop by every week to get a medium popcorn. They have the best popcorn anywhere.

Fine old theatre, with modern day prices. The popcorn is always fresh, and the staff is friendly. If you are looking for an ultramodern movie environment this is not the place, but if you are looking for an "old school" movie experience - this is the place.

This is a theatre that has been lovingly restored to its original glory of the 1920's. It shows films on a daily basis and you buy your ticket from the booth at the pavement side of the theatre. The staff dress in keeping with the era and even the restrooms are restored to the 20's with the pull chain cisterns. If you visit on a Saturday night, be prepared for a queue that stretches around the pavements outside the theatre - on Saturday it is Bob playing the Wurlitzer before the show, with the words to the songs on the screen so everyone can join in - and they do. Absolutely fabulous and very cheap entrance. Highly, highly recommended
