We were in Richmond for the Monument Ave 10K with a group of family and friends. Post race, our local hosts suggested Galley for lunch because it was a bit off the beaten track in town. It was a great idea because eateries in all the usual areas (Carytown, the Fan, etc) were jam packed. That said, I predict Galley will be a big hit and draw more people to Southside Richmond.
Everything ordered by our group of six was a different item and every item was tasty and nicely prepared. In my experience, that's rare. You almost always find at least one "weak" dish. Not at Galley.
While the venue was very busy, the wait staff had its act together and we were seated in a nice spot pretty quickly. Efficient service was the hallmark of the day. Our drinks and food came quickly, but we didn't feel rushed.
Galley has a nice open air feel at the entrance and includes an small outdoor seating area. While located in a strip mall, the combination of great food, efficient service and interesting design makes you feel that you're in a special place.
I'd go back in a heartbeat... very soon indeed.
