“chinese buffet american style”
Reviewed August 15, 2014

When this place opened I was hopeful but it's your typical made for americans gut buster. The staff is very unfriendly and the atmosphere is cafeteria. They do have an extensive sushi selection and their house egg rolls are interesting. Otherwise it's the usual stuff. If you want to get filled up cheap go, but if you want real Chinese go elsewhere.

“Adequate”
Reviewed July 29, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

The food is adequate here, nothing special, but what is remarkable is its great price point. Their teriyaki fish is the one outstanding dish in the buffet. Avoid the deserts as they look far better than they taste. A terrific place for a quick eat or a bargain for a family. They coupon often.

“Terrible quantity”
Reviewed May 2, 2014

I went with my girlfriend there for lunch and dinner at two different occasions and the quantity of what they are suppose to have for dinner is TERRIBLE. The shrimp mix they have for lunch is the same as the one for dinner which has NO shrimp in it hardly at all. When I saw it the first time it was for lunch so I thought for sure they would have more shrimp in the mix for dinner but I was wrong. They have almost no crab legs at all and its very poor quality. (this is the one on midlothian tnpk). I would muchhh rather go to Ichiban because their food actually differs for lunch then in dinner.....not just raise the price for dinner when they dont put better food. Not only that but they just raised their prices. My least favorite part is the fact that they make you pay as soon as you walk in the door. I definitely DONT recommend it!!

“Poor example of chinese food”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

We went to try the new place on a coupon for $1.00 off , oh wow. They don't greet you with a smile and shuffle you off to a table or booth. You can walk around with a plate and try things as you wish. The foods are separated based on types of foods. Hot chinese or cold salad selections or American foods etc. The trays seem to empty faster then they are putting out fresh foods. The soups are ok, the wontons are tough and chewy, The salad is fresh, but who wants salad at a Chinese bar. The fruit selection is good but its mostly un ripened flavorless fruits. The grill has low quality meats, the sushi is the best thing they have and its fresh. The desserts are terrible, low quality cakes that have no flavor and the mini cakes and pastry taste like chemicals, nothing sweet about them. The service is quick but bit very welcoming. no smiles or comments If you want cheap food at a cheap price, go for it. but I rather go to yen ching up the in the same lot.
